The mixed reviews showcase a variety of experiences, from unpleasant waits to wonderful evenings spent with loved ones. The restaurant's atmosphere is generally lauded, with charming decor, good music, and excellent food. Prices might be on the higher side for some, but the quality of the cooking does not disappoint. Overall, McLarens seems to offer a pleasant setting for a meal, and while there are some areas for improvement, many patrons would recommend a visit despite the occasional misstep.
While the waiter was friendly enough, the table was not set before. We had to ask for several things; Teaspoon, sugar, hot water, jam and cream for scene. The food itself was nice, although the mushroom-filled profiterols a chocolate cocoa crackelin that was a little strange. The prawn and sweet chili roasted sandwich was also good, but due to this, the overall summary was that the food was all a little sweet. The afternoon tea was generous and we took some away to share at home. The Scones were delicious.
The dining experience was mediocre. The restaurant was very noisy and the service was quite slow. I was also disappointed that the server did not know what was included in the afternoon tea package. Additionally, a 10% service charge was not automatically added to the bill. We were incorrectly charged for tea and coffee, which should have been included in the price of the afternoon tea. Unfortunately, the staff were unable to adjust the bill as a manager was needed for approval and there was no manager present.
Very impressive afternoon tea. Wish the drinks were served before the meal and wish we had tea and coffee offered everywhere and faster. Apart from that, everything was really good.
Rare wee day with my mother. Pretty flawless. Only the question was that it should be unlimited tea/coffee, but apart from a drink on arrival we did not offer any other drinks. After an hour, we had to ask an employee to drink a drink. The food is nice.
I took my grandaughter to McLarens last Sunday for afternoon tea. Our tables booked for 2.15. By 3pm we had been served pots of tea but nothing else. After several enquiries and being give various excuses (food was being freshly prepared, there was only 1 chef on, stand was being loaded) but no apologies we finally left at 3.40pm with no food having been served! I know restaurants are struggling just now due to covid but this was ridiculous. We should have been told at the start there would be an hour and a half wait to be served. A very unpleasant experience. We will not be back!!!!
