I recently visited Papillon on my way to Café Tartine, and I realized it was the same fantastic team! I decided to give it a shot, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. I highly recommend it and will definitely return! View all feedback.

This was a very pleasant end to a long day's travelling. Great vibe, fantastic food, and attentive service.
Been for a drink only once before had some fries served in a bucket, nothing amazing but generous enough. Saw a special offer dinner, so thought would try as a local venue like to support when can. Unfortunately bit below average not certain kitchen up to the job as the fire alarm went off due kitchen fire. I had fish chips the chips came in same bucket, but the portion was tiny (as if eke ing them out), the portion of fish was generous although the ratios of fish to chips was way off. The biggest issue was it was tasteless, it appeared that neither the chips, fish or batter had been seasoned. My friend had shellfish pasta, again it lacked any seasoning and the pasta was over cooked, although the shellfish was plump well cooked. I really wanted to like this place as a local joint to pop out to when don't want to cook, but the prices do not match the quality of the food. At around £15 a mains, I would have been very disappointed if had paid full price. Wine was flabby and uninspiring. You could see the service was really good, but were overwhelmed. The whole experience appeared to be that they were out of their depth and certainly need to pull their socks up as have a goldmine, if they can get the formula right.
Was in Edinburgh on holiday with my other half and booked here as it was only a half hour journey from my digs. Upon entering you are greeted with a lovely looking pub atmosphere and guided to table efficiently. A jug of water was put down on table I thought this was a nice touch having just walked half an hour to get to papillon and our drinks were ordered and shortly after that the food. The food was lovely and good portion sizes the mushroom sauce I had with my chicken and linguine was amazing I highly recommend. The price value for what we ordered was great not much spent that night. The only reasons I didn’t give this place 5 stars was 1 the menu was too basic not a lot of choice and 2 there was quite a lot of drinks off however I would never let this deter me from coming back!!
Lovely bar and family friendly, food was mediocre, had the buttermilk chicken burger, needed more seasoning and none provided on tables. Good coffee but don’t cater for non diary alternatives which is a shame as a good coffee menu is available, we were surprised they don’t offer, almond milk, skinny milk etc. Not too busy with the rugby and nicely set up to watch sports. Service was a little slow and although whisky options, not listed ok the menu and wait staff not aware what was available. Nice place though and would go back
Lovely restaurant and great atmosphere with a fantastic drinks menu.
