Papavero - Edinburgh
Papavero
Description
Despite a few positive reviews praising the friendly staff and delicious food at the restaurant, the overall consensus seems to be disappointment and dissatisfaction. Many customers complained about the quality of the food, long wait times, and lackluster ambiance. Issues such as small portions, poorly cooked dishes, and slow service were consistently mentioned in the reviews. While there were a few positive remarks about the service and some menu items, the majority of customers left feeling let down and expressed that they would not recommend the restaurant to others. Despite a few redeeming qualities, it seems that this restaurant may not live up to the expectations set by its five-star reviews.

We had a fantastic evening last night at Papavero. We were a sizeable group. Greg and his team couldn’t have been more accommodating. The food was excellent, the service superb and they were very patient when we sat on. Thank you for a terrific evening!
I visited this restaurant with friends and ordered 2 pizzas. Unfortunately, the pizzas were too crispy and hard to cut. The taste was okay, but it was a struggle to eat, with one of my friends giving up after only 2 slices. The mixed grill we ordered consisted of cheap sausages, a frozen hamburger, average steak, and haggis that looked unappetizing. The tortellini pasta was decent, but the garlic bread was made with cheap white bread, butter, and garlic salt. The service was slow, even though we were the only customers in the restaurant for 30 minutes. The calamari was served in small slivers. Overall, my friends and I were very disappointed with our dining experience. We ended up spending £100 here and left feeling unsatisfied, ultimately deciding to go elsewhere for food. My friends’ visit to Edinburgh was also negatively impacted by this experience.
We went on a Saturday night, very welcoming, very relaxed, and the food was brilliant. Definitely worth a visit!
I visited this restaurant in Edinburgh and was disappointed with the service. We waited over an hour for our starters, which were not worth the wait. The main courses took around 40 minutes to arrive after we finished the starters. The portion of salmon I ordered was very small and dry. I had to pay extra for vegetables, and ended up having to wait for a new piece of salmon to be cooked in a different way. Despite being quite tasty, it had to be eaten on its own. We decided to skip coffee and dessert, but were given a complimentary liqueur. The restaurant had only 12 diners and one takeaway order, yet everyone experienced similar delays. The waitress tried her best, but the overall experience was disappointing. The ambience felt more like a diner than an Italian restaurant.
