field is an inconceivable restaurant in the west nicolson street. this place was a past on my wish list and I was curious what they had to offer. the focus of the field is, perhaps unstoppable, quality local, seasonal products. I ordered sweet and acidic quail breast with quail cannelloni followed by smoked duck breast. my eating companion for the evening went for smoked salmon ravioli, followed by roast smoke lamb.... What Lizzie Young doesn't like about Field:
Have been to Field several times now. Excellent food, Michelin Star standard presentation and very reasonable prices. Particularly enjoyed a cod main course with a large mushroom ravioli. Love the intimate atmosphere and the attentive staff. I would recommend this restaurant for a truly special occasion. View all feedback.
Feld april 2016 Best in Show? I started with a Mediterranean inspired mackerel court with Israeli cousin and awol mixed paprika. the makrele was divine, and although the couscous lacked in taste, it was a very tasty dish overall. the man had fought salmon with a dill crème fraîche. my word, they certainly have more effort for the à la carte.
Was already several times in field. excellent eating, michelin star standard presentation and very cheap prices. especially enjoyed a main course with a large mushroom ravioli. love the intimate atmosphere and the attentive staff. I would recommend this restaurant for a really special occasion.
Since writing my first review 2 years ago, field remains my favorite restaurant in edinburgh. never disappointed, whether lunch or dinner, the dishes are perfectly presented, with aromen, which can all be accompanied by the various options on the excellent wine list. always made to feel welcome, eating on field is the perfect place for an excellent family meal. After I have brought family members several times in the run of the years, I can say very cordially that this restaurant is a must if in edinburgh.
Had the set lunch and pre-theater menu. absolutely incredible value for money. the dishes are tasteful and yet balanced. but the place is on the smaller side. highly recommended!
Since the opening in 2013 the general bozz around field is overwhelming positiw. due to its intimate size, a reservation has so far proven to be difficult the first thing that hit me at the arrival is the decor, clean simple, but in an unpredictable way. Normally this is a good sign, since it hopefully means that the quality of food is standing up by itself the service was great. at the arrival we sat, gave menus and water, served drinks and then freshly baked bread with soft butter. tick, tick, tick the menu reads like a dream market shopping list, so the selection was pretty hard. we are from the a la carte menu, our appetizers were scallops with cinnamon sauce...read more
