A restaurant should offer more than just delicious food; it should provide an unforgettable experience. Cannonball did just that. Additionally, their commitment to sourcing ingredients locally in Scotland is a significant plus for sustainability. The owner shared a captivating story about her family history and the journey of establishing the restaurant. The staff were exceptional—efficient, friendly, and highly prof... View all feedback.
What Greg Phillips doesn't like about Cannonball Restaurant Bar:
The reception on the ground floor was unattended, which led us to the bar where the staff appeared surprised to see customers. Once we were finally seated, the service was acceptable, although it didn’t align with the high prices. The menu was quite limited, featuring only seven main dishes, one of which was fish and chips—not exactly what we'd consider fine dining. The prices for the lobster and steak were exorbitan... A highlight of our new year trip to edinburgh. personal wonderful, ambiente perfect and eating was fantastic. only 4 stars give because the dessert was cold, especially in the middle guess a reheat job, although I was informed that it had been made by scratch. but everything else was so wonderful. highly recommended.
Neat location (although the hill to get to it was quite a hike). Everything we ate was good, but the soup was absolutely spectacular. The chocolate cannonball dessert was also very good, and appropriately cannonball shaped.
Was in Edinburgh last night and stumbled across this gem , ambiance was lovely, staff very friendly . I only wanted some tea and coffee and the staff were so friendly and made me and my party welcome . Can't wait till I'm next in Edinburgh to try the food, as the menu looks great and reasonable prices too, what's not to like
Right next to the castle entrance. Great place to take a break after sightseeing. The bar is upstairs and got a little den area for extra seatings with a great view of the cobblestone street castle. £1 oyster during happy hour 3-6pm daily. Whisky tasting, a happy hour menu with generous portions. Pricing is very reasonable given its prime location setting. A value especially if you could take advantage of the happy hours. Service was very attentive as well. We were a group of 5 adults 2 kids.
Chill our way in after our Edinburgh Castle tour. Has a nice ambiance and not a lot of customers. We went in the afternoon, so we just ordered the drinks for the Happy Hour . I recommend to try their oysters! Can 't get enough! We ordered for a second round.
