The Eric Liddell Community is not just a charity; it’s a warm, welcoming hub nestled in the heart of Edinburgh dedicated to enriching lives and fostering connections. Our vision champions a community free from loneliness and isolation where every individual feels valued and included. Since our establishment in 1980, we have upheld the legacy of Eric Liddell, the illustrious 1924 Olympic gold medalist and dedicated missionary. Our mission revolves around four key programmes designed to bolster wellbeing and support those who need it most: we offer specialized services for people living with dementia, a wellbeing programme tailored for unpaid carers, our vibrant Community Hub programme, and The Eric Liddell 100 initiative to celebrate Eric's extraordinary contributions to sports and service. Every month, our doors open to an impressive 7,000 visitors, all eager to engage, learn, and share experiences. Our capacity to provide these vital services is made possible thanks to our dedicated staff, over 117 wonderful volunteers, and generous funding from the community. In particular, our Day Care Service offers a haven for 70 individuals living with dementia each week, ensuring they receive the support and companionship they deserve. We invite you to experience our inviting space — a beautifully converted former church that houses a variety of activities for all ages. From fitness classes to parent and child groups, our Community Hub is a hub of learning and connection.
