Feedback
Reviews praise Byron's juicy burgers, crisp fries and milkshakes plus helpful staff and veg options; some guests note limited menu variety, price and occasional cold dining room or missing desserts.
Byron was the only place that was still serving food when we needed dinner around 21:00 on a weekday in Edinburgh (they serve food until 22:00). We were so grateful they were still open! The mac and cheese balls were really good but they did NOT need to be drenched in the buffalo/cheese sauce. They get a bit soggy if you don't eat them right away...It would be better if the sauce was on the side and they weren't swimming in them. I got a salad which sounds basic, I know, but it was surprisingly delicious. Broccolini, edamame, cranberries, avocado, and mixed greens. Walnuts would've been good too but they were not included. The dressing was light and tangy (got it on the side). My boyfriend got a burger (I forgot the name but he liked it but said he's had better). He probably thought it was decent because we were so hungry at the time...But the fries that it came with were good and cooked perfectly. Overall, a nice place if you want some American food in Scotland, but not anything to rave about.
Exactly what it says on the tin, proper burgers! They're yummy and tasty, they're big and filling they're everything you want from a proper burger and they are not cheap but you definitely get your money's worth. They only negative I have to say is it's cold in this restaurant and there were no desserts available but
Americans in Edinburgh eating at a burger joint seemed odd to me, but our daughter said that we must try this place and it was great! Burgers were juicy and very tasty but the hard milkshakes were next level, I had the Makers Mark shake and it was incredibly good!
We were in a bit of a rush but wanted something solid before we flew out from Edinburgh. This place fit the bill. It had decent if unspectacular hamburgers and average fries. But the kids enjoyed it. Overall, it's hard to get excited about a place like this. It serves a function: to fix your burger craving. It solves that. But it doesn't do more than that.

When Byron first opened here they actually reconfigured the kitchen to add more seating — and early promotion days included eye-catching offers (a one-off 25p burger opening special drew huge queues). Staff are known to be unusually well-briefed on vegetarian details (they'll tell you which cheeses are vegetarian-safe) and the restaurant sometimes shows playful touches — ask the team about specialty milkshake pairings.
