What Michael Butler doesn't like about The Travellers Rest:
The Traveller's rest is quite a way off the main road. It's location is good with views across the the far hills from it's garden. We went there for a pint after completing a leg of our coast to coast walk. The barman was unfriendly with no greeting and unhelpful. We were planning to eat there that evening but changed our minds. I recently visited a restaurant that was incredibly cozy and comforting. The food was delicious, the service was fast, and the staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to both travelers and locals in the area. You will not be disappointed. View all feedback.

read moreNestled away from the main road, The Traveller’s Rest boasts stunning views from its garden, making it a fitting stop after a long hike. While many guests praise the charming ambiance and efficient service, there are mixed feelings about the staff's friendliness and food quality. Some found their meals, like the garlic mushrooms and chips, overpriced and lacking in taste. Despite occasional long waits for food, positive experiences shine through, with hearty pub fare and a welcoming atmosphere, appealing especially to walkers and locals alike. Overall, it’s a place with potential waiting to be realized.
A welcome break from the rain, heated seats and a wood burner, good for quick pint and sandwich which was reasonably priced and freshly prepared.
