Tebay Services
Description
Tebay Services, celebrated for its charming farm shop and local cuisine, has garnered mixed reviews recently. Many visitors appreciate the freshness and quality of the food, often highlighting standout dishes like lasagna and steak pies. However, a noticeable decline in cleanliness and customer service has marred the experience for others. Complaints about overpriced items and unsatisfactory maintenance of dining areas are prevalent. Despite its unique appeal as a motorway stop, guests suggest a need for improvement in service consistency and hygiene. For some, Tebay remains a delightful pit stop, while others recommend seeking alternatives.

The restaurant offers great food and has a variety of shops. The staff is very friendly and the views are stunning. They also have electric charge points available and are currently in the process of installing more, making it easy to find a fast charger.
Do not waste your time stopping at this restaurant. The food was terrible and served by a rude individual who didn't seem to care. When I asked for toast that wasn't burnt, I was told that I had to accept whatever came out of the machine. The quality was really low...I think the black things were supposed to be mushrooms, but I'm not sure. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was expected to leave my coffee and find them myself. We ended up just leaving instead.
There are northbound and southbound Tebay services and we stopped for lunch at the northbound site. Parking appears a little congested upon arrival but there is plenty of additional parking including ample spaces for Blue badge holders that is not clearly signposted. The hot food selection is made with locally sourced items and is served self selection and piping hot. My lasagna was most tasty with soft melt in the mouth pasta but lacking in bechamel sauce, the accompanying chips were very hot and very good. My wife’s steak and ale pie contained chunks of well cooked local beef and the ale presence was pronounced. Fresh carrots, finely chopped red cabbage and a rich gravy completed the dish. A traditional treat. The farm shop stocked a wide range of tempting high quality foods. The seating a views from the eating areas are most agreeable and many who stopped took opportunity to take a short walk in the adjacent land. Overall a much better than usual motorway stopover. There is only one disability designated toilet.
I was so looking forward to visiting Tebay on our journey to Scotland having watched the TV series BUT what a disappointment!!! We decided to have breakfast .....at just after ten am , no sausages at least l5 minutes wait and what was available was...
