Shap Chippy - Eden
Shap Chippy
Description
Nestled in the quaint village of Shap, this chippy has garnered mixed acclaim. While some diners rave about the perfectly fried fish and welcoming staff, others express disappointment over inconsistent quality, particularly with the chips. The ambiance is described as a blend of casual café and traditional takeaway, though some food items, like sauces, come at an extra cost, detracting from the experience. Vegetarian options are a pleasant surprise, and despite pricing concerns, many agree that the quality of the fish is noteworthy. Overall, this eatery remains a worthy stop for those seeking a satisfying meal.

Read so much about the chippy online, awards etc. We arrived Friday, and as our tradition, went to local chippy for dinner. £30.80 for 2 large, greasy fish, chicken chunks (nuggets), large chips and portion onion rings, not to mention 20p for paper bag to carry it (bags in Glasgow are free if your buying hot food takeaway) would I return to Shap chippy? No way, only here till Monday, but when in area again we will go elsewhere for our takeaway
What a find this was. Spontaneous family meet up and as a veggie a tad nervous for a chippy. What a wonderful surprise then to find this hidden gem. Veggie options to boot and what a tasty selection there was.. dplo try the samosas.. really lovely place and despite being near closing time nothing was a problem. Family focused and service was impeccable. Really friendly, amenable and helpful. Well worth a detour from the M6 for this wonderful spot. We will be back..
Expensive and no ketchup in restaurant told to queue up in take away queue to purchase separately whilst food goes cold Avoid won't be back
