Fish and chips is expensive everywhere. That’s a given these days. But the fish I had was so chunky and the batter so fresh tasting that I really enjoyed the meal. The chips were delicious too with just the right amount of crunch. Shap always had a reputation and I think it is maintaining it as it was as good as I have ever had here and I’ve eaten here quite a bit over the years.

Fish and chips was exceptional and staff very welcoming. Everything you want from a quality takeaway. We have visited many times and always guaranteed and consistently high quality. Thank you.

Located in the small village of Shap, this restaurant had posted hours of opening at 4:30 pm according to the internet. However, we discovered that they were serving take-away at noon, with the dine-in option only available after 4:30. The fish was fried to perfection with a delicious batter, accompanied by generous portions of chips and tasty tartar sauce. We also tried the onion rings, which were excellent. Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth the drive out of the way for a delicious meal.
