As many have said, it is a secluded location with large car park, and the hotel... read more We called in for a Sunday night to check out the hotel for a future group visit. As many have said, it is a secluded location with large car park, and the hotel is what you expect from an older building and the rooms were OK. The staff were friendly, the food was fine but there is room for improvement . When we arrived before lunch the bins outside were full, beer cans from Saturday night were left outside on a table and the cigarette bins were festering, it was only later in the evening when we mentioned the rubbish to a member of staff that the cans were removed, on the inside staff were seen to walk past empty glasses, plates and cups on tables, they need a bit of training to collect things on their way past and drop them on the bar or in the kitchen. The bar is adequately stocked but the guest hand pulled beer was a bit cloudy and the person on the bar had no idea what a sparkler was and told us there wasn't one, also the pricing at the bar seems to be designed to make sure that you don't exceed the government guidelines for your daily recommended units. All this was mentioned to a member of the management team as we have decided to go ahead with a group visit, I'm confident that the problems can be addressed before we get there , I'll let you know.

Service was extremely quick and the food was good and they... read more Took my sister as a birthday treat. Spent a pleasant evening at the hotel, had an evening meal there. Service was extremely quick and the food was good and they served huge portions! The location was stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed a walk around the area. What let the hotel down was the customer service. I had booked an Afternoon Tea for the day that we checked out. They had a wedding booked in on the same day and quite frankly, they just couldn't cope with the two bookings. They showed us into a room which had no atmosphere whatsoever and then left us unattended. I approached the Reception desk on three occasions but was left unattended. Very disappointed with the Customer Service. To make matters worse, I wrote a letter of complaint about a month ago and no-one has responded back. The staff just does not look after their customers. You book a place with the intention of being well looked after, unfortunately this was not the case here and I left feeling very upset!

The facilities were excellent with bottled water ,coffee, tea and biscuits, all of a high standard followed by a buffet which could not be faulted. All of this in an classy environment and beautiful countryside.

There was 12 finger sandwiches,2 scones with jam and cream, 4 profiteroles, 2 cakes and 1 black forest gateau which was enough for 2. also 2 prosecco drinks and coffee.We enjoyed the tea but it was a very quiet place.
