Pie was average, not terrible, not quite hot enough, definitely not worth awards, just ok. Staff were friendly, reasonable prices but disappointed.

They have a wide variety of specialise... read more This bakery was an unexpected find! Our apartment wasn't ready so we wandered down to the Main Street to grab some lunch. They have a wide variety of specialised pies. They also have a coffee machine so we ordered hot chocolate too. The staff were very very friendly, which adds to the warm, welcoming bakery experience.

We knew she was new, because she had an embarrassingly obvious 'L Plate' name tag on. After a few minutes of waiting for the final coffee, with no sign of it, we enquirer, and the older woman making the coffee, clearly the boss, went on to take 8more mins arguing that we hadn't ordered a coffee, but instead had been charged for a loaf of break. The was talking at the top of her voice, printing off the pos journal to 'prove' this, despite us saying- no, no bread- just a coffee please. The poor young girl was so embarrassed, there were other patrons lining up, and the only thing being done was the dispute, and point making. She finally made the coffee, acknowledging we were charged from bread, and then said again at the top of her voice when we left 'sorry about her mistake - she's new. Have a lovely day won't you'- so sarcastic, so rude, and so embarrassing for the new employee.When we walked in and saw a lounge area with a laminated sign 'enjoy the adults only lounge seats' with adults only underlined and bolded, we thought that was pretty rude- it turned out that was NOTHING compared to the woman running the show! So rude!Will never go back! Perfect example of what not to do when claiming to be in a customer service industry!

I can't speak for the bread as I haven't tried it recently, but the pies taste just like they did 28 years ago (making me feel old!). The pepper adds a nice touch, not too spicy (if a 7-year-old can handle it, it's not too spicy), but very delicious. I revisited the restaurant a couple of years ago and again recently, and the pies are consistently amazing. The service is also friendly, which was a pleasant surprise since I had only ever had them as part of school lunch orders. This restaurant is a great addition to Echuca, and I hope it continues to thrive for generations to come.

I am trying to eat healthier as I am only 10 kilograms overweight. I jokingly told my doctor that if I were six inches taller, it would be fine, but it's hard to get them to smile!
