Reviews summary
Black Pudding Cafe in Echuca offers a mixed bag of reviews. While some customers were disappointed with the slow service and lackluster menu options for vegetarians, others raved about the high-quality food, great coffee, and friendly service. The cafe's breakfast dishes received particular praise, with highlights like Eggs Benedict, crumpets with banana and honey, and homemade baked beans with chorizo. The heated courtyard overlooking the Campaspe River was a bonus for those looking for a scenic dining experience. While some customers noted minor issues like incorrect coffee orders and lack of mask-wearing by staff, overall, The Black Pudding seems to be a popular choice for breakfast in Echuca, with many planning to return for another meal.

What Kelinda F dislikes about Black Pudding:
Can’t actually comment on the coffee or milkshakes we would have ordered as we weren’t able to have our order taken. We even went inside after waiting 20 minutes to order at the counter and were told it was table service. Waited another 15 minutes all tables around us ordering and the wait staff were having a lovely chat to people just walking by. Maybe we were sitting too quietly but usually 4 people sitting with me... View all feedback.

Found this little cafe on a trip through Echuca, amazing food, awesome little setup, highly recommend it.
Was in Echuca over the riverboats music festival weekend and a friend told us about this place.
Disappointing menu, was looking for something that catered for vegetarians - not an expensive built it yourself menu. Adding smashed avacado and feta to eggs/toast was $8, baked beans were around $6 to add. Ouch. (2 eggs + bread was around $10). Only smashed avocado was available, not freshly sliced.Large coffee was weak - needed a double shot.Service was pretty average.
Sat in the courtyard for lunch on a very cold winters day, but we were more than cosy enough with the outdoor heaters running. Between us we ordered the baked eggs, breakfast bagel and steak sandwich. All were delicious!Service was very friendly and exceptionally quick. We already have plans to dine here again.

Great variety of breakfasts and lunches with river view. Great coffee and delicious black pudding!!
Best coffee and breakfast in town, try the baked eggs! Friendly beautiful staff who are always pleasant and helpful, courtyard out back if it’s a cold wet day.
Nothing special here! Service was friendly but food was disappointing. With so many places putting on a great all day breakfast, Black Pudding just felt stingy with it’s presentation and ingredients. A mere smear of avocado with the bacon l(the only ingredient that was generous)on eggs. The cream cheese and smoked salmon was even worse. Not resembling much more than a thin spead of cream cheese barely covering the surface of the toast. The vegetarian burger wasn’t a burger at all but instead a couple of layers of grilled vegetables. It feels like the chef/cook lacks any imagination, which was a shame as the courtyard overlooking the Campaspie River was a nice space. With so much choice in Exhuca, I won’t be returning to Black Pudding.
The better half and I just had breakfast here. I had a build your own which I included two eggs scrambled, bacon, chorizo, toasted turkish bread and black pudding. The better half had the baked eggs and a side of black pudding. The food was awesome, the black pudding was slightly spiced just right. The bacon was yummo, the scrambled eggs were silky smooth and the chorizo was a nice one. No complaints about the baked eggs, they were completely finished. Oh we ordered a couple of iced coffees too and they were nice!! 9.5/10

We had a delicious breakfast. The food was cooked perfectly. The only down sides- ordered long black in a mug but got a small cup, asked for coffee to come with the meal but it came well before, no cracked pepper AND none of the staff were wearing a mask, nor was I asked for my vaccination certificate.
Let's not get precious about staff not wearing masks and asking for vax certificates, like some reviewers. Perhaps Uber Eats should be considered if you're that way inclined. Black Pudding Cafe is an early-opener that's ideal for brekkie, as was the case for us. Genuine friendly service, **** good coffee and some of the best scrambled eggs we've consumed. Keep up the mighty fine work, guys.
The breakfasts here were incredible. Coffee was good too and everything was reasonably priced. Our dog was allowed with us outside which was great, and the staff were very friendly!
