I’ve heard really bad things about this location as of late, and wanted to try it out for myself. Went at 2pm on Thursday and food came out fast, hot, and delicious! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Steak N Shake:
I visited the dining room now that it has reopened, and it feels more like an upgraded cafeteria. You place your order at a kiosk and wait for your name to be called to pick it up from a tablet. The food is still decent, but a lot of what I loved is no longer available, including the spicy salt—unless you want to buy a whole bottle. I hope to see some personality come back into the dining experience, as right now all... View all feedback.
The plates were dirty and likely not washed properly. The shake cups were marked with fingernail scratches; one even had the name "Bailey" carved into it, and another had something hanging off it. All the cups were sticky from the shake that had dripped down the sides. While we were there, a manager had a loud and aggressive argument with a customer witnessing the chaotic scene. It felt uncomfortable, like being a child caught in parents' screaming match during dinner. The overall cleanliness of the place was appalling: the floors were dirty, the trash cans were overflowing, most tables were unclean, and the restrooms were sticky and had an unpleasant odor. If I could give fewer stars, I would. I will never return to Steak and Shake in Peoria or anywhere else, and I strongly encourage others to stay away as well.
I miss the days when a waitress would take your order and bring your food to the table. Nonetheless, I still love coming here for the food and the beautiful view.
The restaurant was unclean, which made me lose my appetite, and the service was very slow.
We also took advantage of the half-price milkshakes at the East Peoria Steak 'n Shake yesterday. These half-price shakes are available Monday to Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. The service was quick, and the shakes were delicious! I tried the Butterfinger shake, while my husband chose the Oreo shake. Both were very tasty, served with a straw and a long plastic spoon so you can enjoy every last bit. Topped with whipped cream and a cherry—so yummy!
I had to wait a bit for my food on a couple of occasions, but the restaurant compensated me with complimentary items because of the long wait, which was really nice.
