What blairabroad2012 dislikes about The Bowd Inn, Sidmouth:
The restaurant was fully booked inside, so we had to sit at a table outside with some smokers and dogs. The staff were friendly, however the food we ordered was disappointing - just frozen chips, peas, and scampi. The soup was just average. The Carvery seemed to be their main focus of the day and it looked good. It's a pity that the other menu options were not as impressive. View all feedback.

Have driven past this place many times on the way to Sidmouth and always looked busy. Decided to stop off on the way back home . Really lovely place, warm atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food. Now I know why it aways looked busy. Will definitely be visiting again when we are down on holiday. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Burger, Roast

At The Bowd Inn, diners experience a blend of friendly service and varied culinary outcomes. While the carvery is often highlighted as a centerpiece—boasting a good selection of meats and vegetables—experiences can vary. Some guests have found certain dishes underwhelming, with frozen ingredients and bland flavors detracting from the overall experience. However, many praise the warm atmosphere and attentive staff, who strive to accommodate special dietary requests. Despite mixed reviews on food quality, The Bowd Inn maintains a loyal following, with patrons enjoying the cozy setting and the efforts of the dedicated team to ensure a pleasant dining experience.

This restaurant offers fantastic food, with prices on the higher side. The staff was outstanding and the atmosphere was wonderful. The burger was especially delicious.
Excellent customer service and cozy atmosphere of roast was a great disappointment that remained with a full dish and empty bubble! we weren't charged for the meal, only soaked up to the team for that, but it wasn't exactly what. we had hoped. go home to make an omelette on a Sunday! beef should not be gray and spuds felt as if they were left last Sundays! granular! I assume that was because they are kept warm in a very dirty looking hot teller for far longer than necessary the gravure!? .. bizarre! Thickness, irritation and quite tasteless! give them not inferior tasty thick crispy chemically based gravure it will, but certainly not for me! I'm a discombobulatory, how people roar about the quality, because it was simply extremely unsatisfactory. real shame, I don't expect this bad quality at this price! maybe at the hare and hounds. queue angry answer from the extremely unprofessional manager. this will only be his business going on hills when customers read by peters reply. it will be a fleeting and personal dig as the rest of its rebüts. never! oh, and clean her loos wee stinks if not cleaned
After a nice walk we received a very warm reception in the bowd inn. our lunch was delicious and our dogs were spoiled. good food, great value and service.
We came here on Sunday for a carousel. the staff was very polite and friendly, but the carvery was far away from standards. meat was extremely dry when they got a little water in the broccoli and cauliflower cheese where it was frozen. frozen yorkshires, the kartoffels were dry and seemed like they were kartoffel yesterday and the gravure was tasteless. we both barely ate something on our teller. they took it out of the bill. we visited this place last year and had a bad experience, so we might think we would give him another one away and that's the last time. it is sad that a nice pub in a big opposite can not serve big diners. if they don't make up average eating, then this is the place for them, but we love our eating, we know good eating especially with my partner as an ex-chew. the horns and bitches have a much better quality carvery if they are looking for a reasonable price, but it is much more businessy there and they can see why.
We came in for the carvery on a Thursday night. It was fairly quiet, which could have risked the carvery quality but not at all. Great choice of meat veg and tasted lovely Friendly helpful staff and a lovely clean pub.

I visited the carvery today, and it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend it!
I just returned from dining at our local pub and thoroughly enjoyed the carvery this evening. I would like to give special credit to the young waitress who...
Had a wonderful family lunch!

We really enjoy Sunday lunches, especially carveries. After researching, we decided to try out the Bowd Inn and found it to be quite popular at 12:30pm.
