After all, there was a chance to visit and taste their wonderful seafood. Clean and very efficient run. I had the Oyster (fried) plate and it was delicious and a very large order. I didn't count, but I'd say at least a dozen wonderful and delicate oysters. Also the smart and homemade sauces were very good. I recommend stopping and eating. I'm looking forward to another visit. What User doesn't like about Saltbox Seafood Joint:
I thought l was eating fried fish, you know the kind your grandma fry in her hot kitchen? I wasn't...this is seafood with a twist and if you like old recipes jazzed on up then stop in for a taste. You may love it. Me? I'd rather have my grandma's good ole' plain fried fish... The service was friendly, the facility was clean including the bathroom, good parking, outside eating area, and good location View all feedback.

Potato and smoked fish soup. I love the taste of this soup. And it's not a pig in it. The next day returned. In any case, you have to come here early because they sell out and really so! Oyster and Flounder Plate with the Hush Honeys. Coleslaw is delicious!, I ate my men before he made it. It's really good. The sauces . GREAT JOB!!!
We were so excited that Chef Ricky Moore won the James Beard Award! We had to try, because we are a local company and wanted to support this victory for the Bull City! We treated our team for lunch at SaltBox. It was immaculately clean and had seats inside and outside. Carmen took our order and she was super friendly, helpful and friendly. She loved her employees and they made us the best lunch! We tried the lush honeys and fried cauliflowers, and we loved the grouper bites, flounder and shrimp plates. ALL of them were perfectly spiced, tender and the Koleslaw was fresher than cold water on a hot day! Was that a hint of citrus? We will return and are so proud of this local restaurant!!
Absolutely amazing fried trout! So much flavor, loved the seasonings. I wanted to get the fried oysters but it was sold out when I got there. Not much of service, but lots of seating. Parking lot was almost full when I was there but people in and out quick, so not that bad. Definitely will come back for more and hopefully can get fried oysters next time
The atmosphere is great. I really like the decor. The first time we came was about an hour before closing. They were all out of fish. We learned our lesson and visited again at 11:15. We had heard of the place before but we were inspired to come because of a vlog review from Mark Weins. The food was decent. We ordered the spicy Mahi with hush honey and the shrimp with fried potatoes. The spicy Mahi wasn't spicy, it did have a flavor which was hard to decipher but it wasn't bad. The hush honey was good but only if you dipped it in the honey. The hushpuppy itself was tasteless. The shrimp was DELICIOUS! It was flavorful and cooked juuuusssst right. I couldn't have eaten it nonstop. There was a good amount but was sad when it was all gone. The fried potatoes were not crispy at all. They were between okay and good (if there is such a rating), taste wise. The cost is expensive but I understand because of locally obtaining seafood but I was hoping for more. Maybe I need to try another fish there but not sure when thay would be because of my disappointment. But..like I said before, if you do go, get the shrimp!
