El Patron is located in a unique area of Durham, but once you step inside, the scenery, atmosphere, and your perception of other Mexican restaurants changes. This is definitely the best place to enjoy outdoor seating, sip on a margarita or alcoholic smoothie, indulge in a delicious meal that doesn't feel overly Americanized, and simply unwind. I have not been a fan of many Mexican restaurants in the area because they tend to be overly decorated and their food often tastes greasy. El Patron has now become our preferred dining spot. I just wish we had discovered it sooner.

The outdoor seating is a great feature, especially when the weather is nice. Overall, this is a fantastic Mexican restaurant. Be sure to order the Enchiladas Supremas, they are amazing!
