La Bodega - Dunham
La Bodega
Description
A comprehensive review of La Bodega showcases a mixed bag of experiences. While some diners found the large food portions satisfying, the taste fell short and the service was lacking. Issues with slow service, unimpressive desserts, and high prices were commonly mentioned. However, positive reviews highlighted delicious tapas, a great atmosphere, and excellent quality food like perfectly cooked aubergine gratin and flavorful paella. The diverse menu and generous portions were appreciated by families and groups. Overall, mixed reviews suggest that while the food quality may be a hit or miss, the ambiance and unique dining experience at La Bodega are notable aspects to consider.

To begin, I must say that the food at this restaurant was fantastic. However, the service was lacking due to not enough staff for the number of clients. When we placed our order, the wait time was far too long. Our waitress gave us the option of having all our dishes served at once or in two separate servings. We opted for two servings due to ordering six or seven tapas plates and limited table space. The first serving included garlic butter sautéed mushrooms (7/10), grilled eggplant with goat cheese and maple syrup (8/10), and a Spanish charcuterie cheese plate with olives (6/10). The first serving was delicious and we finished it quickly. We expected the second serving to arrive promptly, but unfortunately, it did not. We were already full and becoming impatient. It seemed that the kitchen may have prepared the dishes in advance and our waitress was overwhelmed with other customers. When I mentioned our dissatisfaction to the waitress and suggested we only pay for what we had eaten, she became defensive and claimed that our food was ready to be served. I insisted on only paying for what we had consumed. Eventually, we asked to pay our bill as we needed to leave, but we were kept waiting for another 15-20 minutes while the waitress attended to other tables. It was disappointing that the service did not match the high quality of the food and atmosphere. Hiring more staff would help meet the demand for their delicious food and prevent customers from being let down by the service.
Three of us tried 7 tapas-style dishes. We thought the empanadas and charcuterie cheese were excellent, the salmon salad was good, the eggplant and mixed veggies were decent, and the lamb and chicken with figs were just okay. We enjoyed the atmosphere and found the service to be friendly and attentive. We would definitely go back again!
I 'm still at the restaurant. Just finished our meal. All that I can say is THANK YOU. It was a symphony of taste. I told my girlfriend this makes me want to believe in god, as the taste was truly divine . Amazing place. Must come back again.
Hands up ! Excellent atmosphere, staff, and food. The salmon was a perfect dish. Plus, the desert as well. Good job !
This place has the most impressive decor on the inside with the coolest chairs and tables and even the bar inside was really impressive. My aunt and mother were already in Dunham so I convinced them to come try out this new restaurant for lunch. The soup was cream of cauliflower (my absolute favourite and my meal was shrimp pasta with rosé sauce. The soup was fantastic (but I might be biased when it comes to a cream of cauliflower soup and the pasta was simply amazing. The shrimp and pasta were cooked perfectly and the sauce was different from what I've ever tasted before. My aunt also had the pasta and agreed that it was a fantastic choice. My mom had the Poulet Marcelo and said that it was also a prime choice. For dessert I had a Crème Caramel which was the perfect ending to a perfect meal :
