What Karyn McCallum dislikes about Aastha Devotional Indian:
The menu specifies that Korma is made with a cashew base. After I bought it and opened it, it looked and smelled like cows milk. When I enquired to make sure so that I wouldn’t get sick, the waiter was rude and told me there was dairy in all the dishes I had bought that I can’t assume that was ingredients on the menu would be correct . We got takeout from here. In my opinion the food at this restaurant definitely lives up to its reputation of being the best Indian food in Cowichan Valley. The staff is pleasant and friendly and the restaurant is inviting. I'm happy to recommend them.
Vegetarian options: The Dal Makhani, Chai, Garlic Naan, and Kadhai Paneer were all outstanding!
We were thrilled to discover this gem of a restaurant after moving to Duncan from a city with an amazing Indo-Canadian community and great restaurants. The North Indian style food here is of excellent quality, generous portions, and a fantastic variety, all served with friendly service. Our absolute favorite dish is the lamb biryani. Even our adventurous 2-year-old can handle the medium spice level, although he prefers the mild option. You'll be pleased to know that the "hot" dishes won't require a towel to handle! Kids are definitely welcome here. We often dine in, but we also enjoy takeout. We just heard about the lunch special and can't wait to try it!
The food service was quick. The vegetable pakoras were fantastic, and the chutneys were incredibly tasty. Vegetarian options: Pakoras.
Aastha serves the best Indian food I've ever had! The flavors are wonderfully complex, and the quality of the dishes is always exceptional. They truly go the extra mile by adding special ingredients like nuts, cilantro, and unique sauces. You can tell the chefs put a lot of care into their cooking. The portions are so generous that I always have leftovers for the next day, which makes it a fantastic value. The food is remarkable, and I absolutely recommend Aastha. The staff is friendly and efficient too. Without a doubt, it's a perfect 10/10!

A small, casual space next to a high school with a lovingly served and prepared, ethnic food experience. The name means Faith, which we can all use more of in our lives and I definitely need more of this flavor rich and soul satisfying warm, cooked to perfection goodness! Better than any Indian food in Victoria, and extremely busy w take out all the time I was there. I enjoyed eating in.
Nice food.. Great humble staff and reasonable prices indian food. Would love to go again.. Tried chef special goat curry and kudos to their chicken tikka.. Love it.. ?
The restaurant had a security presence that made me feel secure. The food was tasty, and the prices were very reasonable considering the generous portions. The staff was friendly and helped create a welcoming atmosphere. Overall, I had a fantastic experience!
We arrived at the restaurant quite hungry and decided to order Kadhai Paneer, Daal Makhani, Garlic Naan, and Aaloo Paratha (which wasn't listed on the menu). We were greeted by a delightful and exceptionally welcoming owner/host who went out of his way to accommodate our special request. The food was outstanding, and the service felt very personal. We enjoyed every bite and expressed our compliments to the owner, Nautiyal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates Indian cuisine.
I really enjoy the food at this restaurant, particularly the butter chicken—it's my favorite! However, I had a bit of confusion when I ordered online. The price was listed as $11.99, but when I went to pick it up, I was told that this was only a special price for Mondays, and I had to pay the full regular price instead. I had thought that "Butter Chicken Monday" referred to a specific dish, rather than just a promotional deal for Mondays. This lack of clarity left me a little disappointed.

I always eat here whenever I'm in Duncan. The food is expertly crafted and perfectly seasoned, so I never find it necessary to add anything. The service is exceptional, and the chefs are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant and its environment are impeccably clean. The portions are also quite generous. I will certainly be returning often!
The best Indian restaurant in Duncan, and perhaps on the entire island, features affordable prices and a welcoming staff.
This restaurant is a delight! The staff is very friendly, though the service can be a bit unorganized and slow at times. However, the excellent food more than compensates for that. We've eaten here several times, and every meal has been fantastic. We're fortunate to have such a place in Duncan. The coffee, unfortunately, is just mediocre and not very high quality, but honestly, that's the only downside. We truly love the food here!
The best butter chicken I've ever had on the island! I'm so thankful my friend recommended this place to me; it's truly a gem in Duncan.
The food at this restaurant is exceptional, especially the butter chicken, tikka masala, and naan bread. The service is equally impressive. Although the building is a bit worn and in need of some updates, don’t let that stop you; both the service and the dishes are of the highest quality.

The best butter chicken I've ever tasted! It's wonderfully creamy and cooked to perfection. The chicken is juicy and tender, and the portions are more than enough.
The food here is amazing! The portion sizes are quite generous as well. My favorite dish was the chicken tikka—it was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and juicy. Everything I sampled was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be ordering from here again. I can't wait to try more items on the menu!
The food was served hot, and the flavors were fantastic. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed butter chicken that truly had the authentic taste of tomatoes. They also deserve extra praise for not adding cilantro, just as I requested.
This restaurant offers the best Indian cuisine in the area. Every dish is flawless, featuring ample portions at great prices, which means excellent value for your money. The food is incredibly tasty! Whenever we want to treat ourselves, we always decide to order from here!
As returning customers, we were once again pleased with the delicious food! The tandoori prawns were the best I've ever had, with the sauce perfectly seasoned. If you enjoy coconut, be sure to indulge in the coconut-stuffed naan—you won’t be disappointed!

We arrived very hungry and ordered Kadhai Paneer, Daal Makhani, Garlic Naans, and Aaloo Paranthas (which wasn't on the menu). The charming and incredibly welcoming owner/host went above and beyond to accommodate our request for the off-menu item. The food was exceptional, and the service felt very personal. We ate to our heart's content and expressed our compliments to Chef Nautiyal. I highly recommend this restaurant to all lovers of Indian cuisine.
I really enjoy the food at this restaurant; their butter chicken is my absolute favorite! However, when I ordered it online on Monday, I was quoted a price of $11.99. When I went to pick it up, I found out that this was actually a special price only for Mondays, and I had to pay the full regular price instead. I had thought "Butter Chicken Monday" meant a specific item on the menu, but that wasn't communicated clearly.
I was really impressed by the diverse range of vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore-friendly options available. There's truly something for everyone on the menu. The prices are also quite reasonable. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to others. The only improvement I would suggest is switching to compostable containers, as we made sure to reuse ours.
The staff is very welcoming, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable for the generous portions. Overall, a wonderful experience!
