Kutscherschänke Uriges Wirtshaus

Located at the corner from Frauenkirche, this restaurant serves very good German food. Indoors, one can feel the rustic ambiance. Outdoor seating can be more lovely (even busy) but situated near a passageway to the Elbe promenade. Highly recommend their duck and goulash soup. Service can take a while as this place gets very busy especially during mealtimes. Reservations are recommended.

The food was generally too salty, but the environment and service were very good.

We didn't really expect this place to be this good, but I am so glad we found it. We were on a budget travel, but we wanted to treat ourselves a little bit on the final day, and compared to the restaurants in the area it wasn't as expensive. Our waiter was super-frinedly and helpful, she was checking on us every 10 minutes asking if everything was alright. We ordered a 2-person grill dish, which was extraordinary good and we didn't have to wait much for it. The place itself is rather beautiful and rustic, the atmosphere was very comforting.

First great experience of German food in a nice traditional restaurant. The steak, schnitzel and sausages changed my opinion about German food! Do try when in Dresden for authentic good German food!
