Feedback
Lo Kai, a beloved staple in the Lowell/Dracut area, evokes nostalgia for many long-time patrons. However, recent visits reveal a split in customer satisfaction. While some reminisce about its friendly service and delectable dishes, others lament a decline in quality and service. Reports of rude phone staff and disappointing food—ranging from dry rice to unappetizing cocktails—cast shadows over the dining experience. Yet, a number of guests praise a return to form, highlighting fresh takeout meals and the inviting atmosphere. For those seeking hearty Chinese fare, Lo Kai remains a place worth revisiting.
I used to frequent this restaurant many years ago, but I recently noticed a decline in portion size and quality. When I ordered takeout, I discovered a chicken wing missing from my plate and had to call the next day to complain. The B plate is supposed to come with 2 chicken wings, not 1! I will not be returning as I cannot trust them to provide what I paid for. I spent $50 that night and will not be spending that amount there again. The combination plates do not taste as good or fresh as they did in the past, as they now skimp on meat and overload the plate with rice.
I hadn't visited The Lokai in over 30 years. I wasn't interested in the buffet, so my friend and I decided to order from the lunch menu. The lady who did choose the buffet seemed very happy with her choice. The photos are of our two lunch plates, which were extremely delicious. The dining area was clean, and the service was quick and friendly. We enjoyed our meals so much that we decided to order the same lunch specials for takeout a week later, and they were just as delicious. We will definitely be returning to The Lokai more frequently in the future.
My friends enjoyed this restaurant, but I did not have a great experience. The owner, who was also our server, seemed rude and impatient at first. We were apparently his first dine-in customers of the day. When we asked him if everything was okay, he changed his attitude, but I found it insincere. The food was mediocre at best, and the only reason my friends liked it was because they were intoxicated. The restaurant looked neglected and rundown. Overall, I did not eat much and would not recommend this place to others.
Everything about this restaurant was fantastic. There is plenty of free parking, the staff is friendly and attentive, the drinks are great, and the decor, although dated, adds to the authentic vibe of the place in my opinion.
