I made the drive to Montgomery just for brunch, and it was totally worth it! I've been following Chef Kelsey since before she was a chef, and after visiting Alabama, I knew I had to eat here. My spouse, who is from the Midwest, had never tried red-eye gravy before, and he was blown away by it. I could have easily taken home a 5-pound bucket of it! What Kenneth Muna dislikes about Kbc:
The food was decent, but the prices felt a bit steep for what was offered. The service was adequate, though it could use some improvement. The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant, with a rustic vibe that adds to the overall experience. I've visited this place several times before, and it was much better in the past, so perhaps this was just an off day for them. I'll be sure to provide an update after my next visit... The Mahi was the best I've ever tasted, with a delightful smoked flavor. The Bee's Knees cocktail was also excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. It made for a wonderfully romantic candlelit dinner. Unfortunately, they were out of the chocolate dessert, which must mean it’s fantastic since it was sold out.
2024 Update: Still the best food in SE Alabama. Only restaurant that offers food on par with high-scale diners in
What a beautiful place! Austin was great at helping us choose a delicious lunch and kept checking on us with a big smile. Great experience.
The food and service were excellent; everyone was very friendly, and the dishes were fantastic.
Drove from two hours away and online it says open until 10 PM. on their door it says open until 230. We got there at a 1:45 and were told the kitchen was closed and they couldn’t take any more customers. Ridiculous…
KBC offers a delightful dining experience with its rustic yet inviting ambiance, ideal for brunch or dinner. While the food quality fluctuates, many dishes stand out, particularly the snapper and Chicken Milanese. Guests rave about unique offerings like red-eye gravy and the decadent bakery items, though some express disappointment over missing vegetarian options and occasional service lapses. The drink selection garners praise, enhancing the overall experience. KBC's welcoming environment, coupled with its creative cuisine, continues to attract diners, making it a recommended destination for both locals and visitors alike. Reservations are advised, especially on weekends.

We ordered steak fries and surf and turf, and we were thrilled with our decision. The food arrived promptly. The steak fries looked amazing—perfectly golden and crisp. The surf and turf also looked fantastic. I tried a Hemingway Daiquiri, which paired wonderfully with my meal. You might want to dress up a bit for the occasion, as many guests seemed to do the same, but don’t worry—you’re not required to wear a jacket unless you want to. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. I highly recommend checking this place out. They also have outdoor seating available for a starlit night.
Absolutely amazing food!! The snapper was the best seafood dish I've ever had! The snapper cooked perfectly and that sauce was to die for. The Chicken Milanese was outstanding as well! Finished with a delicious bread pudding sundae! Somewhat pricey but worth every penny!!
Dorothy and I loved our early dinner. the cats and the salmon were amazing. michael our waiter suggested the cat and it was on the money. michael was pleasant and made an excellent job thank you!
As a bonus, I ordered every cookie from the pastry case and enjoyed them later at home. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders were fantastic! I love this place!
Gorgeous decor, and with the first visit didn’t realise we had to make reservations, so I made them for the next week. We were sat a bit later than the reservation time, which gave opportunity to view the menu, and placed the order as soon as we were sat. First drinks arrived within minutes, however the appetiser took about 20 minutes and the drinks weren’t refilled for about another 10 minutes. The deviled eggs were delicious and made the food to arrive very promising despite the wait. After waiting another 10ish minutes were told food would be on its way. About an hour after being seated the food arrived. The top of my pasta looked oily and congealed and I was worried that it had been sat out for a while, then simply reheated in a microwave. The first bite the pasta was complete mush, so unappealing I had to spit it back into the bowl. The burger that was ordered was dry and room temp, the bacon on it charred so badly it looked like a roofing shingle and was bitter. Even the side salad were just below room temperature. The waiter and the manager apologised and offered to make it right with something else from the menu, however, after so much anticipation and this severe let down I didn’t want a replacement that would require another hours potential wait. I did offer to pay for everything that had been presented but did make it clear that I was unhappy with the food, and that I would not be returning. They did remove the unsatisfactory items from the tab. However, any restaurant that wants to present a high calibre image, must in all services be on their best game. Such a sad let down from a place I was so excited for.

The food was decent. We got salads a sandwich. Although all of the salads were heavily decorated. There is no vegan options. Or even vegetarian options. This was my second visit to KBC, and while my last experience was outstanding, this time it fell short. The service was excellent, and although we had a brief wait, it was expected. Since it was after one on a Saturday, we ordered from the lunch menu, choosing the Bees Knees with fries and vinegar slaw and a Mo burger without the bun. My sister loved her burger bowl and said it was fantastic. Unfortunately, my chicken sandwich was very disappointing. The chicken was cut into long strips and was tough, which I didn’t expect from such a reputable place. It wasn’t warm, and there were hardly any condiments. As for the Bees Knees, it could really use some honey. The vinegar slaw was just that—vinegar. A little salt would have made it better. I missed the appetizers from my first visit; I really wanted the street corn.
We returned to town for a family gathering and knew we had to visit KBC again. We made a reservation for Friday night and were seated right on time. The drinks are exceptional, and you never feel shortchanged on the alcohol. I started with the cranberry spritz, which was light and refreshing, and finished with the blackberry tart that was perfectly balanced. For our appetizer, we ordered the yum yum shrimp wraps, featuring large, juicy shrimp that were batter-fried to perfection with well-seasoned corn starch. My husband enjoyed them so much that he joked he could have just eaten the fried batter! For our main courses, my husband chose the ribeye, Pittsburgh style, while I went with the salmon. Although the steak was slightly overcooked, the flavor was so delicious that we didn't mind. The salmon was moist and had a lovely crisp on the outside. Once again, we had a fantastic meal here, and our only complaint is that they’re not open on Sundays! Lol.
