What Fleetwood doesn't like about Cottage Bar Restaurant:
i have been to this establishment on two occasions in the last week at both times with a large party of family and colleagues. i have to say that collectively we were mortified at the service and attitude of the young waitress which was ghastly. We were tired and hungry, and followed a road sign for the Cottage Restaurant. We missed the restaurant entrance and ended up in a housing estate, but we persevered, and discovered a little gem. We parked the car, then walked up the slope to the restaurant, past chickens (rare breed? in enclosures. The slope might pose a problem for wheelchair users, but it is a roadway, so I imagine temporary access could be granted to car owners. The restaurant was larger than we expected. It looked clean and comfortable, and we sat in the conservatory (no blinds, so rather hot in the sun and looked out over aviaries containing quail, budgies and canaries. I had the lamb shank, and my sister had a chicken burger. We both enjoyed our meals. The prices were reasonable, and the welcome was warm. Worth a second visit.
We visited The Cottage for the first time for Saturday lunch, and have decided that we will definately be back. The grounds were lovely (the weather was nice for once so we sat outside), the bar and separate conservatory were nice, and the aviary/rabbit hutch near the summerhouse was a nice touch! The lunchtime menu had a good choice of snacks and mains, the staff were friendly, and the food was extremely tasty. Have already booked to go back for a birthday meal.

Very disappointed, we will not be returning.
