We went here because of the view and that was really good. However the food was much less impressive and despite the claims made for authenticity and care in the cooking what we ate was nothing special. Service was good and the cost was about...average for our stay so it is a reasonable choice for a night out but not quite up to the standards set by the sea -front bar to the hotel
Restaurant was fairly busy but very disorganised some tables full of plates empty glasses and bottles should have been a warning sign. Ordered our food and wine and then nothing happened for next minutes. We both ordered Tuna tartare but for some...reason they only bought us one between us so had to wait for second one to be made although when it did come it was delicious. For main course i had ordered suckling pig it wasn’t until i was half way through my starter that the waitress advised me that they had run out of suckling pig not impressed at having to choose again some minutes after my making my original selection. Yes you get a good view from the floor and food is good when you get it, but the poor service from seemingly stressed and/or disinterested staff was a big let down.
Nice views from the top, the bar downstairs is nice, friendly and quick staff. The restaurant food was very up and down. The starter was good, the pasta not so much, the fish was ok, the dessert ok. But the biggest letdown was the service....No one seemed in control. At times long waits, minutes from getting menu to being able to order and minutes from getting the bill and being able to pay. The restaurant wasn't even half full.
The location, service and eating in this restaurant was simply fantastic. the prospects are breathtaking along with chilled wein a not better place to spend time with a loved one.
During our stay at Cala Gonone we often had pre dinner drinks on the Bue Marino cocktail bar overlooking the Central beach. Service here was always friendly and there was an ambience and vibe we enjoyed. For our last night we chose to eat in...the restaurant at the top of the hotel to celebrate a wonderful holiday. Firstly the views are wonderful and such a beautiful setting however thats the only positive thing I have to say. We had booked the previous night so alarm bells started ringing when they had no record of our booking (we had done it in person). After a lengthy wait (offered no drinks) we were found a lovely seat overlooking the bay. Then the fun and games began mainly consisting of chasing service and waiting. When our meals eventually arrived my wife's was average and I was given the wrong pizza. At this point we were so hungry and fed up we couldn't be bothered to make a fuss as it appeared nobody on the staff were that bothered either so we just finished what we could, paid and left. Thank goodness for the views and a lovely evening of drinks at the Sky Bar in the Cala Luna Hotel otherwise it would have totally spoilt our last evening.
