Description

This neighborhood Thai spot delivers generous, home-style portions—excellent spring rolls, drunken noodles, pad Thai and customizable spice—and friendly, accommodating owners. Praise for authentic takeout and homemade desserts contrasts with recurring complaints: bland or watery curries, overcooked rice, frozen vegetables, long waits, spotty cleanliness, and heat from fans/no AC. Décor is dated and location a bit tucked away. Recommended for takeout and casual, spice-loving diners; cautious diners should expect inconsistent service and occasional quality lapses.

This restaurant offers delicious, authentic Thai food that feels just like home. Don't let the outdated '90s decor or the slightly questionable location deter you. The owners are friendly, and the food is great. I ordered spring rolls, satay, and roast duck to take away, and everything was tasty with generous portions for the price.

We were the other couple there last night, seated next to Michelle K who also posted a review. I can't disagree with much that she said. I froze my toes off at dinner! We thought about just getting take out but felt like being out of the house for a bit so we drove over to check it out update I've demoted Mongkon to a 2 star restaurant. We have tried getting takeout from here on numerous occasions since we dined in there a few years ago. Eat time the food was worse. Oily pad Thai, over cooked noodles, general taste that didn't seem fresh. I really don't like giving bad reviews but I didn't want to mislead neighbors into thinking this place was good.

I was excited to try something local, but this really did not live up to the reviews. The restaurant must of had their AC go out because there was fans running and it was hot. I got drunken noodles and red curry. The food had no flavor and lots of red dye. I hate that I can't give these locals a good rating but the food was extremely bland and there was no Thai flair.

Great little spot. Definitely authentic with the owners doing the cooking. Great pad Thai, drunken noodle, and curry dishes. Sometimes there might be fans blowing, which is a little strange, but that would be my only criticism.

Place doesn't look like a restaurant inside, looks like a store or office. Water served in plastic bottles. Unfriendly waitress grabbed menu from my hands so hard she sent a fork flying, and she wasn't mad about anything. Got appetizers after 30 minutes. Dumplings were cold. Thai spring rolls were all lettuce, $6.95. Over an hour for entrees, the other two parties are still waiting. The third party gave up and left. Rice is mealy and overcooked, the curry I could have made better at home in half the time. No spices, broc and green beans are frozen. My boyfriend's dish has a few, a very few, frozen green beans and carrots, hardly any chicken, and both are loaded with salt. He left 90% on his plate and he was (is) hungry. Thai Orchid in Berwyn is way better! We are now leaving with most of the food still on the plate and getting a pizza.
