The restaurant was surprisingly busy despite Storm Arwen. We had booked a weekend stay at the tent next door in advance, bringing along our two dogs, and we were warmly welcomed. I had a venison special, while my partner ordered a 'small' serving of sausage and mash. Both meals were hearty and seemed like great value for the price. The food and service were excellent. If the prices were just a bit lower, I'd give it a 5-star rating. Price per person: £40–50. Food: 4/5. Service: 5/5. Atmosphere: 4/5.
As expected, the restaurant was fully booked for dinner, so we settled at the bar with some pork scratching. To our delight, the bartender informed us that there had been a cancellation, and they could accommodate us for dinner. The food was fantastic! I started with the pâté, followed by the chicken and leek pie for my main course. The pie was generously filled, wonderfully creamy, and the pastry was perfectly crispy. The mashed potatoes were smooth, and the gravy was thick, just the way I like it. They also had board games available for guests to enjoy. I was disappointed that we had to leave early Sunday morning, as I didn't get the chance to try their Sunday lunch. I would definitely come back to the area just to visit this place again. We received a very warm welcome at this restaurant. During our stay at the nearby C C Club site, we dined here for three consecutive days. The service was excellent throughout our visits. On our first night, since we arrived before the evening menu was available, we ordered a basket meal—sausage and chips—which was quite tasty. For the next two evenings, we made a reservation. I had a burger one night, while my husband enjoyed the fish and chips, both of which were outstanding. On the following evening, we both chose the beef pie in red wine with vegetables, and it was simply superb. We highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were very friendly, the service was great, and we would definitely eat here again.
