Reviews summary

This popular Des Moines restaurant offers a unique dining experience with a fantastic brunch menu. From perfectly prepared Eggs Benedict to massive breakfast burritos, the food is top-notch. Their famous **** Marys are a must-try, though some may prefer them over ice. The Mimosa Flight and friendly service add to the appeal. With an extensive menu and reasonable prices, it's a gem worth revisiting. The staff's appreciation for service members and personal greetings create a welcoming atmosphere. Whether enjoying the patio in summer or cozying up inside, this spot is a winner for brunch lovers.

Was Favian Schmeler at Mullet's a mag?

Great brunch spot! They took our names and offered us drinks while we waited in the car, which was still enjoyable. We arrived on a Saturday around 11 a.m. and waited about 45 minutes. The staff was all super friendly and very attentive. They have a HUGE menu! The Bloody Marys are simple but delicious. This is definitely a place I'd return to, especially in the summer when the outdoor seating is available! View all feedback.

What Shane Dunning dislikes about Mullet's:

Visited on a Friday morning with a party of 5. Quoted for a 30 minute wait time but didn’t get seated for 85 minutes. Worth noting that if you come with a party of 5 just say you only have 4 people and you will be seated faster and then switched to a bigger table. Hostess says “there is nothing I can do about it.” When I complained about the wait the hostess gave me quite a bit attitude. Very poor service for a quali... View all feedback.

Great brunch spot!! They had us put in our names, grab drinks, and wait in the car. Which was fun still. We got in on a Saturday about 11 after a 45 min wait. The stuff is all super friendly and very attentive. They have a HUGE menu!! The bloody Mary’s are simple but good. Definitely a return spot especially during the summer with the outside seating open!

The Bloody Mary flight wasn't bad, but truth be told, I didn't really like that they weren't over ice. I'm just not used to them that way, so it could be more of a me problem, but the flavor was so great! We loved the green one! I ordered the avocado toast and I loved all 4 of them' especially the Eggs Benedict one. I was so full and struggled finishing, but powered through because I don't think they would have been as good as leftovers. My husband got the brisket breakfast burrito (not pictured) which I did get to eat his leftovers the next day because he was so full, he couldn't finish it. Leftovers were just as good as it was fresh. All in all, we had a great meal and it's a perfect brunch spot!

This little restaurant has a LOT of character. It's a wooden, cabin-like building, perfect for its lakeside location. There is large bar seating area both inside and outside. There's 80s music jamming when you walk in. The food is delicious. I enjoyed the chorizo bacon hashbrown plate, and my husband had a country fried steak. There is a nice breakfast drink menu, but they serve lunch and dinner also. Some breakfast items are available all day. The staff were friendly. This place definitely put a smile on our faces. We will definitely be back.

This is an absolutely wonderful restaurant and bar !! I was there on the evening of the 4th fireworks and my breakfast with my companion Lilly is what brought me back to the fireworks celebration. The location is right by the river walking path overlooking Des Moines.

BY FAR, one of our favorite breakfast and lunch place in the Des Moines area. Great prices, some of the nicest staff, and delicious food with numerous options to choose from. Head to Mullets for your next meal! You won’t regret it.

This charming little diner is open from morning until afternoon. I really enjoy the variety of options available. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and it has a nice local atmosphere.

I've been hearing great things about the burrito, so we decided to stop by for a late breakfast this morning. We were seated immediately, and our server was very friendly and helpful in recommending a sauce for my burrito; the green one had the best flavor! The hash browns and burrito were delicious as well. We also tried the cinnamon roll pancakes and the chicken fried steak skillet, which were fantastic too!

Wow! Great place to eat. There was a wait but so worth it. Best place we ate at on our 4day trip to the city.

We were excited to try out this place. But on a busy day, there is no excuse for your hostesses to act they way they did to our group. Rude and not communicative!! First, we were told 10 minutes wait after we checked in for a second time after our whole party arrived. We waited 30 minutes and other parties who arrived AFTER us seated we checked again and we were told that we weren’t checked in… so we waited until we could be seated 15 20 minutes later. Once we were seated (many babies with us) we thought we were going to enjoy a meal. But then, we were told we had to seat on one half and we asked if we could have the shaded side (because of the babies) and the hostess proceeded to roll her eyes and walk away from us… we waited for someone to give us waters in the beating sun no one paying attention to us for 15 minutes, so we decided to leave.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. It was so impressive that I felt the urge to write a review while I was still there. The Mimosa Flight was a perfect way to kick off our morning, and the chicken cordon bleu omelet was just what I needed, although I didn’t realize it until I tasted it. The service was prompt, efficient, and very friendly. Our waitress, Sherina, was outstanding—knowledgeable and skillful in knowing when to interact with us and when to give us some space to enjoy our meal. As I was wrapping up this glowing review, Zach, the manager, stopped by to greet us and thank us for choosing his restaurant for our first visit. After years in the hospitality industry, I might have just found a new favorite place to dine.

I had an amazing breakfast at this restaurant, one of the best I've had in a while! I ordered the loaded Bloody Mary and the brisket breakfast burrito. The loaded Bloody Mary was good, but I recommend going with their famous Bloody Mary instead. Make sure to add this restaurant to your must-try list. For the best dining experience, I suggest using their online waiting list – we were seated right away while others had to wait for about half an hour.

Did you know that you can join the waitlist online? It's a game changer! I had a fantastic brunch today! Our server was excellent, the Bloody Marys were spot on, and all four dishes we ordered were delicious. The Eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection, the Denver omelette was just as I hoped, and the breakfast burrito was large enough for two meals! This is definitely one of the best brunch spots in Des Moines.

The **** Mary flight was decent, though I wasn’t a big fan of them not being served over ice. It might just be my preference, but the flavors were excellent! We especially loved the green one. I ordered the avocado toast and thoroughly enjoyed all four varieties, with the Eggs Benedict being my favorite. I was so full that I struggled to finish, but I pushed through because I didn’t think they’d be as good as leftovers. My husband had the brisket breakfast burrito (not pictured), and since he was too full to finish, I got to enjoy his leftovers the next day—they were just as delicious as when fresh. Overall, we had a fantastic meal, and this is a perfect spot for brunch!

My visit to Mullet's was truly one-of-a-kind. The fried pickles, Barnyard Burger, and funnel fries from their menu were absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m in Des Moines. Highly recommend! The portions were ample, and the prices were very reasonable. Don’t forget to check out the photos!

I highly recommend trying the bacon chorizo hash browns; they have quickly become my new favorite dish! I think I’ll be skipping dessert here from now on. I just can’t resist those hash browns!

This is a fantastic spot for breakfast and a morning Bloody Mary. I've tried many of their dishes, and all of them are excellent. It's quite busy, so I usually go on the weekends.

A hidden gem! The restaurant was bustling, but we still managed to get a great table. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Most importantly, the food was served promptly and was fantastic. The portions are generous, making the already reasonable prices well worth it—each appetizer could easily serve as a meal on its own. The wels finger was by far the best we’ve ever tasted, and the bratwurst was also excellent. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place!

The food and drinks were fantastic. The owner and his wife are wonderful people. One of the highlights of the evening was that some service members were present, and the owner made a heartfelt announcement to the entire restaurant, expressing gratitude for their service. The place was bustling, and everyone stood up to show their appreciation. It was truly one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever witnessed.
