Ototo in Denver is a hidden gem that delivers a bold and imaginative take on Japanese cuisine in an intimate, stylish setting. From the moment we sat down, the menu felt like an invitation to explore—each small plate was a delightful surprise, from the honey miso eggplant to the bacon-wrapped mochi. The robata grill added a smoky depth to dishes like the wagyu skewers, and the sashimi was pristine and artfully plated. But what truly elevated the evening was the sake selection—thoughtfully curated and expertly recommended by the staff, it turned our meal into a full sensory experience. All fish, veggies and flavors were incredibly fresh and excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. This place is always great.
Our server Taylor was great! It was our first time there and we tried many items on the Happy Hour menu. All were good. Croquette-like takoyaki had gravy and octopus which was our least favorite. Glad we got the last bottle of Sonryu Nigori. I enjoyed the honey-miso eggplant. Tried the Aburi Toro and Tonkatsu Ramen at Taylor’s recommendation. Unfortunately, the toro (fatty tuna) had a tough section and didn’t melt in the mouth as I expected. Thank you!
