Bakechop - DeLand
Bakechop
Description
BakeChop in DeLand, Florida, USA serves up delicious vegan fare with great options like hummus and veggies. The tempeh is tasty, although the bean burger tends to fall apart. Overall, a good spot for those who enjoy mashed-style burgers.

I came early in the afternoon on a Wednesday. There was a slight wait to be seated but still very prompt. Food was amazing and you can tell a lot of thought is put into the menu and recipes. The interior dining area is rather small. People rightfully flock to this place, so during busy times, maintaining conversation can be a bit difficult. However, I did enjoy the rustic vibe and ambience of the dining room. I can’t comment on the other servers, but we were tended to by Hunter and he was amazing. His presence and service is among the best I’ve seen anywhere and I personally would love to return and be waited on by him again. Service was also very prompt. I had a burger with pimento cheese and jalepños (I think it was called the Sabrina burger or something similar) and it was phenomenal, and was well complimented by a side of crispy garlic potatoes. I would definitely return, I would definitely have that burger again, and I would definitely like to have Hunter as a server again.
Unfortunately we did not enjoy their food this time around. We ordered a vegan sandwich because the Stevo Vegan Burger is no longer offered. The bread on our two sandwiches was clearly old, staie, dried out and the tofu was over cooked. We ended up not eating the bread and our fries were served up cold. In addition to that we waited near an hour for these horrible eats. Its surprising because we got seated right away. Lastly, its sad to say that two visits out of 7 in total, the food was unacceptable. This would be our last visit. Vegetarian options: Vegan vegetarian dishes are labeled. Please know that I have been a vegan for 17 years and felt the kitchen could do better for less cross contamination. Example: I do not like that they grill breads near the meat cooking. This is why we opted for non grilled bread on our sandwich. But who knew it would be stale bread. Do better!
The atmosphere was nice, casual and interesting. The food looked amazing. We tried a couple of the specials and were a bit disappointed in our selections. I had the kale salad with delicata squash called the Daily Dally. The toppings were not sufficient for the kale. We wanted to give it another try as several other plates going by looked amazing. I think it’s worth a try. Food: 3
