I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, with delicious local dishes. The atmosphere is classic and cozy, yet still laid-back. The service is always good and I've never had a bad experience here. Be sure to try their bone-in pork chops - they are a must!
Oscar is amazing! A wide range of appetizers, entrées, drinks and wine. The right mix of bright and substantial price with beautiful style and presentation. A great beer selection that offers more than great IPAs and boring traditional options (beer, porter, stouts and more! The best thing: the service is warm and attentive. They take care of you like family! Thank you Oscar!
Good food. Upscale atmosphere. Quiet enough to carry on a conversation even on a Saturday evening. Excellent bartender so order something good and tell him to make it how he wants to.
I love Oscar's and come here whenever I can. No matter what you pick on the menu, you won't be disappointed. Super friendly staff. And there's a fireplace for ambiance and extra warmth during the cold weather!
Oscar went downhill. The first time they opened and we went to dinner was great. But the last visits were like that. Last weekend, my husband went to dinner with a friend. And both got sick. I just phoned with chef Joanna. She said they cook her lamb balls very well. But there was no solution for problem or they both got sick. Very regrettable, as they pay a lot of money to go to dinner. And just to get home and get sick. This is frustrating on many levels. I have to take care of a baby and don't need a man to take care of who gets sick in a restaurant that didn't take the precautions to check what they cook.
Oscar’s experience remains a mixed bag for diners. While some celebrate the inviting atmosphere, warm service, and extensive menu options, others express disappointment with food quality and service inconsistencies. Positive reviews highlight flavorful dishes and a cozy ambiance, noting standout offerings like the bone-in pork chops and inventive cocktails. Conversely, some patrons have reported issues ranging from overpriced and poorly executed meals to billing disputes, impacting overall satisfaction. As Oscar’s continues to attract customers, it remains to be seen whether they can maintain their initial charm while addressing these emerging concerns.

Would give 0 stars if allowed. The food was good but the wait staff and person in charge (man behind the bar) over charged us for a meal. Here's what happened: One person in our party of 7, who is a vegetarian, was charged for fettuccine bolognesealthough she ordered fettuccine with butter. It took the waitress 3 tries to get the simple order correct. Maybe she shouldwrite down the order to get it right? First it came out as bolognese, second time came out with no sauce but meat sprinkled allover it, third time with butter as ordered. When the bill came, we were charged for the fettuccine bolognese. We asked to havethe bill changed to reflect no bolognese but the waitress and person in charge swore she ordered the bolognese (which shedidn't) and would not subtract the extra charge off the bill. The person in charge took the waitress' side on this dispute. Overa few dollars they lost 7 customers plus those we tell. We will not be coming back.
I would advise against supporting this restaurant. The reason is not the food as I have no idea how it tasted, but rather for poor management practices, untrained staff and generally rude managers. Let me briefly explain. We stopped in for our 6:30pmreservation, but after a struggle to find a parking spot, we walked in six minutes late. Upon checking in, the hostess told uswe did not have a reservation. Well, our friend pulled out his phone and showed her the RESY confirmation. She said, well…”we don’t have you in our system”. Manager comes over..as he is flipping through the screen we actually see ourname. He acknowledges our names and said “we cancelled you, you were late” and walked away…no “I am sorry”, no “wewill squeeze you in, just sit tight”. Again, I looked at my watch and we were six minutes late. Are you seriously kiddingme? There were plenty of open tables…so who took our table I might wonder, right? The hostess, who apparently did notknow how the auto-cancellation works, also looked confused. Look, I get it, their restaurant their rules. But how aboutposting your policy: ”if you are five minutes late, the reservation you had for the past two weeks will be cancelled!” Wehad to scramble to find a place six miles away to make it back to our show at the Dedham Community Theater. Turned what was tobe a restful enjoyable dinner and evening, into a mad dash/unrestful scramble. I will not be going back. As we all know, itstarts at the top. If this is how the management is going to treat their customers, they won’t be around long. Imagine howthey likely respond to issues one might have with their food…”well, you ordered it”….give me a break, many greatestablishments out there. Skip these guys and offer your business to those who appreciate the customer just a wee bit more..
The food was cooked properly, but it didn’t taste very good. The biltong cheese plate had supermarket-bought, thin sliced cheese pieces. The burger was a beef/pork mixture that just didn’t taste very good. The bun soaked through and it becameimpossible to eat. Fried pickles were the best part of the meal.
AMAZING atmosphere, service was top notch and to say the food was the best I've ever had is an understatement! I tried 5 appetizers with my group, and we all had different meals but shared a taste of each. The salmon, short ribs.... I couldn't evenname them all but do yourself a favor and bring friends and family! I'll be a regular every chance I get!! Oscar's is to Bostonas the Red Socks are to our hearts!!!
Portions a little undersized and I have a sneaking suspicion that my JD shot was watered down. Other than that, food was good, bartender was knowledgeable and friendly, beer selection was pretty awesome. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing. And they were theonly bar in this area that was open on a Monday. Pretty solid place.

Oscar's is an excellent pub featuring a diverse selection of beers. They have a variety of vegetarian dishes that can easily be made vegan. The veggie burger is scrumptious, although making it vegan just involves taking off the brioche bun. They usually offer a delicious rice bowl on the menu too. The staff is well-informed about vegan options, making it an ideal spot for those following a plant-based diet.
