Sourdough Joe's - Dawson Canada

I ordered poutine with bacon, and I found both the service and the food to be quite good.

Although there were very few customers, we experienced a long wait for our food. However, when it finally arrived, everything was served hot and in generous portions. We were quite hungry, but honestly, if we had known how large the servings were, we might have just ordered one dish to share. The fish was quite good, with each piece being about double the size of a typical portion. On the other hand, the fries were greasy and lacked the crispiness we were hoping for. The coleslaw had an unexpected sweetness, almost like a dessert, and the tartar sauce was similarly sweet. As for the poutine, it was a bit peculiar; the mushrooms were whole and seemed to be raw. The amounts were definitely enough to satisfy two people with average appetites, but the dish was overly salty and greasy, which made it less enjoyable. I did feel sympathy for the waitstaff; our server mentioned that she was actually a carpenter who was helping out because the owner was struggling to find staff. She was very friendly and pleasant, which was a plus. Overall, while the portion sizes were impressive for the price, the quality of the food left much to be desired.

This is a really lovely restaurant with delicious food. The staff was friendly, and our meals arrived promptly. I found the front wall, adorned with one-dollar bills from various countries, to be quite creative. However, I did notice that most of the tables inside were sticky, probably from syrup left over from breakfast that morning. Overall, it’s a great place, and I would rate it a solid 9 out of 10.

The breading on the fish is just odd and neither it or the fries had any seasoning to it. Our server seemed new and was not very attentive, while the other servers did a great job of managing their tables and making sure everyone had water on a hot day. The portions are huge but honestly I would rather have better quality food and less of it. They could probably use another cook as well as we were told it would be 30 min for food but ended ip being much longer. It was busy.
