Description

The Colonial in Sydney serves up a tapestry of dining experiences, where vibrant flavors and attentive service are often contrasted by inconsistent food quality and ambiance. While some diners rave about the impeccable service and delicious dishes, like the vegan paneer butter masala and the beef vindaloo, others express concern over hygiene standards and food presentation. Reports of off-tasting ingredients and insufficient attention to detail in the kitchen have also surfaced. Overall, The Colonial can be a delightful culinary adventure for some, but demands improvements to consistently satisfy its diverse clientele.

Clearly marked vegan options on the menu and it's so good to have a number of options to choose from. Freshly cooked, tasty curry. Good service, couldn't fault it.

I'm not ordinarily a huge fan of Indian food but we tried the vegan paneer butter masala and vegan bainghan bharta which were both very tasty. The onion bhaji was the highlight though!

Came here with a Groupon voucher. Won’t lie, prices normally were way outside what I would spend usually, so thankful for the voucher. Gotta say, the butter chicken and the garlic naan? Winning combination right there. Can’t go wrong with it. There’s a bit for everyone, so if you’re up for trying something new, go ahead!

I tried the railway goat curry $25.9) with garlic naan $4). Loved the curry it was fiery chose less spicy, but even that had me breaking a good sweat) but loved the rich flavour browned onions, ginger, garlic, black cardamom and cassia bark). The goat is on the bone, juicy and tender. Even scored a nice big bone with bone marrow to be sucked out. The naan was warm, soft and fluffy. Definitely on the pricey side, but great food, comfy seating and you'll be well looked after by the staff. IG: @shazlikesponies
