Description

Kurtosh, a Hungarian treat reminiscent of trdelniks, is a definite winner at this cafe that offers a variety of delicious pastries and cakes. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff despite busyness. Customers can choose the size of their cakes and pay by weight, and there are plenty of gluten-free and vegan options available. The soy chai latte and poppyseed cake are particularly recommended, with other items being rich and heavy. While the service can be a bit slow, the great selection of desserts and drinks, along with a charming setting, make this cafe a must-visit for those with a sweet tooth.

These tasty bread-like, pastry-like spiral treats are certainly popular across Sydney. They do a roaring trade, especially at night when the munchies hit. These are Hungarian in origin, but for us they're reminiscent of the trdelniks we had in Prague. In reality they are extremely similar so it's understandable.

Lovely cafe (I've so far visited two locations and the food, drinks and environment were similar). It's nice to have a couple desserts to taste so you have an idea what you'll be getting. The coffee and tea are good, the vibe inside is sweet, and I highly recommend the sour cherry and poppy seed cake, tasty and not too sweet.

These are actually pretty good! The almonds was probably my least favourite as they were a bit dry! Caramelised nuts and Nutella were my favourite. Pistachios was ok! Definitely worth a try! Its best when they are fresh! And they are very addictive! Reasonably priced! The place also offers a good drink menu and other food specials!

Love the cakes from this small chain store with 4 outlets scattered throughout Sydney. This one is close by Kings Cross Station. A few table and chairs outside, the majority of the seating is indoors. Apart from the cakes they have the kurtosh (chimney cake) as well as hot and cold beverages on offer. I do enjoy the pay by weight concept as you can decide how much to indulge in without the obligation of a set size. The only problem may be you might indulge too much. <br/ <br/ The service here was very friendly. I got a few pieces of cake to takeaway including Hazelnut Truffle Slab, Strawberry Pistachio Sponge, and Espresso Butter Almond Chocolate Roulade. The hazelnut slab and espresso butter roulade are my favourites. Love the flavours and textures in both. I decided to give the sponge a try. It was nice but not as good as the first two. I also had time for a coffee so got a Mocha to have in. It was well made and nice coffee art on top. Enjoyed my brew!

I really loved kurtosh! Such a different dessert to have after dinner, and so so delicious. The bread dessert itself is quite substantial, so I always have enough to pack home. There's a great selection of baked treats on display as well, and plenty of gluten free and vegan options too. Coffee here is very good too! Service is friendly but can take some time. Kurtosh is definitely one of my favourite places to grab dessert to go for my family at home :
