Nestled within a bustling plaza, this seafood restaurant offers an intriguing blend of steam cooking and self-serve elements. Diners can select fresh seafood, albeit at a premium price. While the clams and prawns receive praise, the fish often disappoints, lacking flavor and seasoning. The ambiance is lively, featuring whimsical decorations and a do-it-yourself sauce station. Despite mixed experiences with service—ranging from attentive to neglectful—many appreciate the friendly staff, particularly the management. However, language barriers can hinder communication, leading to unintended meals. Overall, with its vibrant atmosphere and decent offerings, it proves a memorable yet polarizing dining experience.

Was Hitoshi Hokamura at Fresh Elements a mag?
Chinese food in US tend to be over greasy for me but this place is an exception, because they only steam... with the table-embedded high pressure steamer, fresh seafood as well as meat and vegetables are rapidly steamed without adding water or salt- and you would enjoy the real tastiness of the fresh ingredients. Shrimp, clams, oysters, yellow chicken and beef tongue are my recommendations. Ask MP item first as they... View all feedback.
What Dennis Eisen dislikes about Fresh Elements:
Some seafood selections are fresh but pricy. It’s more like a buffet style with steamer cook top and porridge underneath catching all the juice from food steam on top. This place is very narrow and hard to move around when crowded. We had a family dinner here and I bit into a piece of rock (size of tip of my pinky) found in the porridge. It chipped 1/4 of my tooth. I called the waitress over and showed the rock and a... View all feedback.
Food is great, but definitely on the expensive side. They will ask you to choose a soup base, which will be steamed at the bottom of the pot and served at the end in a porridge form, so don't be full before getting to the porridge which is very filling! On top of the soup base, they will ask you to order seafood, which will be steamed. We ordered a selection of clams as well as fish, which in hindsight is definitely two much for 2 people. The seafood are not seasoned for the fresh taste, but there are sauces at a small corner, which I do recommend getting unless you are shooting for just the fresh taste of the seafood. Ended up spending ~$90 per person after tax and tip. Although the food tastes great, since they are just steamed, I wonder if I can also just buy fresh seafood from the market and cook myself to reach the same taste..
Extremely over priced. Food is ok but not worth the price at all. You can buy the same seafood at half price and steam at home and get the same thing.
The perfect place for fresh Cantonese seafood!! The concept of this place is to steam the seafood or meat and let the juices trickle into the pot of soup or congee underneath it. I believe there's only two restaurants in the bay area with this restaurant concept, so it is definitely a MUST visit if you're on the peninsula side of the bay! We came on a weekday night, so there weren't many people at the restaurant. That being said, parking was extremely easy!! The restaurant is located in the plaza with 99 ranch, so parking might get hectic on weekends. We ordered the clams, sweet shrimp, sea clams, scallops, beef tongue, vermicelli, Chinese cabbage, fish tofu, and lava buns! We also ordered the spareribs with herbs congee for the base. All was the perfect amount to feed five people. Everything here tasted amazing!! The seafood was very fresh, so all the seafood had a sweet taste to them! The shrimp were also still moving when we got them to exemplify it's freshness lol. The congee at the end was also very tasty and savory from all the seafood juices that dropped into it. They make sure to keep the congee bland so the juices can help flavor it throughout its cooking process. Service is also phenomenal! The cook all the food in front of you, and they make sure to set a timer to ensure everything is cooked perfectly. They also warn you about taking some seafood off the steamer immediately to avoid overcooking it. The staff was very attentive and made sure everyone received a portion of the food!! They also directed us to the sauce bar, and explained the different sauces and ingredients. 11/10 would recommend to anyone without hesitation. Super delicious and delectable!!!

This place is very narrow and hard to move around when crowded. We had a family dinner here and I bit into a piece of rock (size of tip of my pinky) found in the porridge. It chipped 1/4 of my tooth. I called the waitress over and showed the rock and a piece of my broken tooth to her. She immediately took the rock to the back and brought out her manager. They never apologize and hid the rock. The manager explained that rock are normally found in seafood and never asked if I was okay. I was hoping she would apologize and show concern toward the customer, but it never happened.
