Fresh Elements - Daly City
Fresh Elements
Description
Nestled within a bustling plaza, this seafood restaurant offers an intriguing blend of steam cooking and self-serve elements. Diners can select fresh seafood, albeit at a premium price. While the clams and prawns receive praise, the fish often disappoints, lacking flavor and seasoning. The ambiance is lively, featuring whimsical decorations and a do-it-yourself sauce station. Despite mixed experiences with service—ranging from attentive to neglectful—many appreciate the friendly staff, particularly the management. However, language barriers can hinder communication, leading to unintended meals. Overall, with its vibrant atmosphere and decent offerings, it proves a memorable yet polarizing dining experience.

Ok I had this for dinner tonight. It's not my first time eating at this place. Store is located inside a plaza but parking can get pack. Everything you cook is base on steam. The store is also not big so expect that you might end up in a waiting list. They have 1 restroom only. My rating is base on food availability on the menu.
Chinese food in US tend to be over greasy for me but this place is an exception, because they only steam... with the table-embedded high pressure steamer, fresh seafood as well as meat and vegetables are rapidly steamed without adding water or salt- and you would enjoy the real tastiness of the fresh ingredients. Shrimp, clams, oysters, yellow chicken and beef tongue are my recommendations. Ask MP item first as they tend to be pretty expensive. One secret is to ask the white rice before you start steaming and place in the bottom of the steamer, and when dinner is over you have super yummy porridge ready- try it!
My husband and I love this place. The food is wonderful the service is stellar. We walked in 20 minutes before they were closing and were treated like they just opened. Love Manu the manager and the entire staff!!
Some seafood selections are fresh but pricy. It’s more like a buffet style with steamer cook top and porridge underneath catching all the juice from food steam on top. This place is very narrow and hard to move around when crowded. We had a family dinner here and I bit into a piece of rock (size of tip of my pinky) found in the porridge. It chipped 1/4 of my tooth. I called the waitress over and showed the rock and a piece of my broken tooth to her. She immediately took the rock to the back and brought out her manager. They never apologize and hid the rock. The manager explained that rock are normally found in seafood and never asked if I was okay. I was hoping she would apologize and show concern toward the customer, but it never happened.
