Kendall Karsen’s Upscale Soul Food

As my kids say it was bussin!!! I loved all the vegetable sides! We ate dressing and it was so yum!!! Cabbage could’ve been seasoned more, but I appreciated that it didn’t have meat because I’m a vegetarian. Wish they had black eyed peas. I loved the Mac and cheese and candied yams! They were nice. Took 30 min to get food because it’s made to order but I would just call ahead next time. Definitely worth the drive!!!! Loved all of it and you could tell it was cooked with love! Ate so fast didn’t get a picture. We will be back for sure! A real treat!Went back another day and 6 people were waiting outside. Restaurant didn’t open for the whole 30 minutes we waited. It was around 3pm when they were supposed to be open. Wish they kept their hours better.

Gotta be a joke. It’s got potential but it’s just not there yet. Wait a year when they take their business more seriously. Here’s the rundown: Yams were not fully cooked, hard and very stringy. Rotisserie chicken burnt*. Chicken tetrazzini nah, Chicken tetra-terrible with no chicken and enough cheese to clog a horse. Hawaiian rolls same as store. Beef tips out of them. Chicken wings out of them. Rotisserie chicken “sold out” to idiots that bought it. Only coke product for drinks. Overall it’s a hell no. The customers don’t have much of an option. They say the food is good because they are starving. Watch out for those 5 star giving zombies. Save your money and wait until they learn how to cook. Most of it looks like the photos but does not taste as good as it looks. But you’re going to see this chicken… look at it.

Very disappointed in the food. The fried ribs tasted just like flour. No season at all. The dressing was very dry and please ask if we want the gravy on our dressing. It is also too loud. The cashier has a hard time hearing you when placing your order.

Visited this gem today and I will say, THE FOOD ? literally NO complaints there. I would suggest they spend more time ironing out the kinks as far as wait times to ensure faster food service but overall, I would definitely come back. We waited right at an hour for our food so if you’re in a rush or pushed for time, I wouldn’t suggest eating here but if you do have time to spare, and want to enjoy some really good soul food, this here is your spot. The chicken tet will make you want to slap your momma ?? HIGHLY recommend getting that meal and patronizing this business

I waited over a hour pregnant polite, no rude remarks just diligent because so many good things had been said about this place. I ordered pot roast , Mac, and yams. Didn’t get the yams. I got an extra cabbage instead? I ordered Chicken Tetrazzini with green beans and a side of cabbage. The cabbage was good and green beans were subpar at best, the chicken tetrazzini was okay but the pot roast was the equivalent of a tv dinner. The roast literally looked like Turkey. I’m all for supporting black businesses but why are people getting ripped off for this kind of quality. You don’t even get a complementary drink for the wait and still have missing food items after waiting .. only to get food that looks like it came out of a tv meal. I don’t know but I will not be back here. I tried to call because I really wanted to leave the review to the restaurant staff directly but the phones were busy. I would really like a refund but highly doubt I will be able to.
