Fast service! Delicious food. I had the Enchilades Verde with a can Equis. Chips and salsa were free. Just enough spice. the red sauce was a little tobasco-like, but still tasty. View all feedback.
What Abigail Jaskolski doesn't like about Cafe Herrera On Lamar:
The service was excellent, but the food was disappointing. As someone who doesn't like to give negative reviews, I have to say that this was the worst Tex Mex meal I've had in a long time. The chips and queso, which are usually my favorite part of Tex Mex cuisine, were akin to ballpark nachos. The tortilla soup was overly thick and tasted like a burnt chili, while the fajitas lacked flavor. Overall, my meal was remin... View all feedback.
There were not many people there so we had great, attentive service. The margaritas were excellent and well done. The food was very good, everybody in our party was happy. The service was everything we couldâve asked for. It was very empty at that time so Iâm sure that helped.
We arrived at the restaurant for our 7:00 reservation at 6:45 and were turned away, being told they couldn't seat us and weren't serving anyone. I mentioned that I had made the reservation a month in advance, but the man was rude and dismissive in his response. He didn't express any regret or offer an apology, simply stating, "Everyone wants to eat here, but you can go somewhere else down the road." If we had wanted to go to a different restaurant, we would have made a reservation there instead. It would have been common courtesy for them to notify us about the cancellation so we could make alternate plans. We will not be returning to this establishment due to the poor customer service and lack of apology. We will also be sure to discourage others from visiting this restaurant if they are staying in the area.
Waitress would not take our order. Had to leave our table after 30 minutes.
Not impressed. Bartenders are horribly rude and drinks are mediocre. Salsa was good but we didn’t stay past appetizers.
I am staying at the Omni Hotel. Due to requirements for travelling back to Canada, I was too late to attend the conference dinner so I was on my own. I went to Cafe Herrera, attached to the hotel property. The place was nice. I was greeted and seated quickly. But the seat was under a vent, and the air conditioner was on and it was cold outside. I had to leave on my coat and hat to stay warm. Half the servers wore masks and half did not wear any face covering and one waitress wore a mask covering only her mouth. The three chefs all wore masks under their chin, or none at all. But the food was really good. I had Frijole (bean) Sopa (soup) and Shrimp (Camarone) Enchilada. Tasty, filling, well priced. I likely won't be returning any time soon.
