I always find a visit to the Sun Inn is a hit or a miss? Sometimes the food is good and other times I am not impressed with it? I enjoyed my meal today but my 2 companions did not. I have not been there for a few months and still 1 toilet door in the ladies toilets at the back door does not close and lock. This is not acceptable! The Ladies toilets are pretty shabby all round actually!
The staff were great and it was clean and cosy. However I was disappointed at my Pig on a plate I paid £32 for. Tasted nice, but I had to order a bowl of chips to go with it. I expect to leave full after paying £32. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4
I don't recommend it. At breakfast, it was terrible, took 20 minutes to get a simple tea, the cup was quite dirty, and the kitchen operates on limited hours with overpriced food. Maybe this place is only for drinking alcohol and nothing else. Food drinks: Expensive and absolutely not worth it. Service: 1 Location: 5
I am just home from here. My friend and I went out for dinner. Our meals were very nice. The staff were amazing, so professional yet so friendly and wee happy to have a wee chat while serving. It was a young man and a young lady, who said this was their first time running the restaurant on their own. They did so well, if they had not mentioned this I would never have known, such was their professional manner. To who ever is in charge, hold on to them, they are credit.
I am sitting in my room at the sun inn as I am writing. It's a Sunday. I checked in at 8 15. The one young employee who was in the building was professional but informed me on arrival that the kitchen had closed. Bummer but it is a Sunday. Upon asking when the bar would close he told me 10pm. I decided to go to the shops and buy some cold sausage rolls and a bottle of wine to mitigate the early closing and grabbed a quick single beer in Dalkeith in a bar that closed at 11. My intention was to pay more for somewhere I could have several drinks without driving but I tried to make the best of my origional plan. I got back to the sun inn at 930 to find not a solitary light on and figured I'll watch some TV instead. Only the TV didn't work. I dismounted it after trying to configure settings on the 2 controls. The sky box was not connected sinse it was a flat wall mount and there was only a single accecible hdmi port, out of three, that could be used. That was already oucupied by the fire stick. Now it is sitting on the dresser since it cannot be remounted with both availible devices connected. 40 minutes of fooking around and nothing has changed. The bar is closed. No night porter, no TV, no breakfast and a broken bathtub. All the reasons I paid the extra to come here instead of the cheaper airport option have be removed. The room is nice though. It's as good as an airport one minus the stains on the headboard of the bed.
