Description

Nestled within a charming locale, this cafe bar combines a cozy atmosphere with a varied menu featuring homemade dishes. While some visitors have noted inconsistencies with cleanliness and service, particularly from a rude staff member, many praise the friendly service and improved ambiance. Regular guests appreciate the fresh, well-cooked food, especially during events where the catering is commendable. With ample seating options and a dog-friendly outdoor area, Blackwells is ideal for everything from casual coffee outings to large celebrations. Despite a few shortcomings, it remains a beloved destination for both locals and events alike.

Very pleasant village location, atmosphere a little stark, staff not at all friendly, food very standard boring and not much choice sort of roadside cafe type place, not all that clean

Nice for a cup of tea after a walk on the common. Not such quick service as The Larder, but right by the Common and more parking. The lunch time meals are big, but good value.

My daughter held her wedding reception here last weekend. They let her decorate the place with flowers and candles, the staff were friendly and hard working, the food was great.A perfect venue for a party of a hundred people or so, well done Blackwells, highly recommended.

Good for a meeting point, quick snack, good range of bar food, pool table, all round value for money

Not sure what it is about this place but I tend to agree with another one star comment for Blackwells. I thought it was just me and that's why I didn't put a comment on before. In my opinion and it is only my opinion. You just don't feel welcome at this place unless you are a local, play tennis or a friend. Now that is fine if that's the business model and good luck to the owner. I just don't bother going there now after three similar experiences. The last one was the nail in the coffin for me. We hired the back room for a christening. The owner was very helpful and the charge was a fair price. We organised the time for the food to be served after the church finished. Unforts for some reason when we arrived the food hadn't even been put on and we had to wait 1 and 1/2 hrs to 2 hours for food. Everyone was starving. Anyway. Whinge over. The breakfast is a fair price and the food is good quality and varied. Don't ask for anything other than the breakfast as you'll be looked at, as if you have 2 heads. Damn. Done it againIt is situated just off the green and woods, so excellent if you want to walk the dog and then go and sit have a coffee and cake. The inside is nicely decorated and is a good size for events etc. prices are reasonable. That is if you don't buy the house in the village first before going in to buy a coffeeSo to finish. I wish you good luck
