Although our reservation was dropped by Open Table, we were graciously accommodated in the outdoor seating area, which was very quiet and cozy the under the heat lamps. The food was amazing and service was excellent.

Overall our food was excellent, with the exception of the hashbrowns which were unfortunately REALLY greasy. The pancakes (the Robert) were absolutely delicious. Having said that I would be hard pressed to return for brunch, as the wait time for our food was an hour, which seems excessive for breakfast. The adjacent party related that they were there for 2 hours. The staff is very attentive and friendly in an obviously popular and busy place, however it would seem the kitchen is overwhelmed.

We ordered multiple dishes over the many days we visited, and each one lived up to our (high) expectations. The filet was cooked to order andtender, the salmon fell off your fork and was seasoned to taste, the lobster cavatelli was creamy and flavorful, the dessert didnot disappoint either time...all with reasonably sized portions. You should expect to make reservations at a place like this.You should also expect to have a longer dining experience and pay more than at a typical chain. That's part of the experienceand the quality of food will not disappoint you IF you are looking for something different from the other restaurants in thearea. We will be regulars here!! Also, if you enjoy Skogen, try their sister restaurant (Hjem AM) for breakfast.

If you’re looking for a unique experience in the Black Hills, this is the place to go. We tried the seasonal soup (incredible fall goodness), beef tartare, lamb bolognese, and veal cheek. Everything was made to perfection withquality ingredients. We topped the night off with the butter cake after reading rave reviews, and holy cow, that was one of thebest desserts we’ve ever had. The sweet salty flavors play perfectly with one another, and the textures of ooey gooey cake,popcorn ice cream, and caramel keep your taste buds dancing.
