Drove by 500 times.. never knew what I was missing!. Tiny little Custer, not even a wide spot in the road, just a turnout directly off 4 lane highway.. Great old stone stable a few hundred feet off the highway.. Thick stone walls no noise.. and , OH did I almost forget? GREAT FOOD! No signage on the building, if not for the Urban Spoon app on my phone I never would have turned off the 4 lane and even if I had, would... View all feedback.
What Chris H doesn't like about Clancey's Stone Lion:
Clancy 's is nestled in 'downtown ' Custer, and it is surrounded on all fronts by other bars. The other bars have their own character, but what sets Clancy 's... View all feedback.
Just brilliant. Brisket and Gravy is amazing. Irish meandering a few nights is a treat. Sit on the must to visit and eat. Reuben is homemade and on site. Beer and scotch selection are really Irish.
Best food in the area. Everything's up. The Guinness engraving is amazing. My only complaint is that it is not very child-friendly, but some people don't like having children.
Where's Custer? So I live in Stevens Point and everyone I talk to has no idea where Custer is, let alone Clancey's. Listen to people when you're looking for a big bar/restaurant that is relatively unknown, you've come to the right place. I started with an open face rueben with a side of yukon gold potatoes and Guinness engraving, and unnecessary to say I was connected. I have everything on the menu and you can't go wrong with any of them. From hot beef (imagine a beef sandwich hugging potatoes and all that in heavy doused) to baked icy cod, everything... I mean, EVERYTHING is delicious. Add this to a bar menu that break any Irish drink fools together in pure joy, and you have Clancey 's. 35 types of Irish whisky, the staff is excellent, the food will bring tears to your eyes, and the atmosphere is second to none. If you consider yourself a food and drink connoisseur, you will not be disappointed with this restaurant in Custer. If you feel adventurous, ask your server for a shot of Guinness Gravy, they will be happy to also do with you. I suppose that's why they work there.
Very good baked fish, also very health, perfect roasted red potatoes and a piece of rye bread for $10, good alternative to the usual deep roasted fish! Fish fillet in 5 ounces.
Clancey's has a great atmosphere, delicious home cooked food, and a friendly staff. I love this place!!
