Macfarlane Lantern mixes cozy charm and excellent takeout coffee with inconsistent food quality and service. Friendly, family-run warmth and tasty fries make it a welcoming local spot, but patrons report shrinking portions, higher prices, substituted or missing sides, raw/frozen vegetables, rushed service and occasional hygiene lapses. Worth a try for coffee or a casual lunch, though dinner and holiday specials may not meet expectations.
The Lantern use to be a really good place to order dinner. The burgers use to be so big that I had to cut them in half and would be stuffed if I was able to eat the whole thing. Now they are making them half the size and the price is higher. I realize the cost of items have gone up….but don’t raise the price and give your customers less. $9.00 is a bit much for a cheeseburger that leaves you hungry but empties your wallet.Very disappointed to say the least!!
Really good fish and chips eaten at a seaside table.....just lovely
I was not very happy with the service. There was a mix up with our order, put in late and when we received our meal, we had 10 minutes to eat before closing. I didn?t receive my salad I ordered, late meal and I was putting in my last bite in my mouth andthe waitress took my plate away and I am not exaggerating. The cook came out to sit us at the table when we arrived and not thewaitress and at the end of the night, 7 pm to be exact the other cook came out and sat in the dining room. I would like to eatmy meal in peace with no rush and the place was smoky as the exhaust fan wasn?t on but the front door was left open.
Great home style breakfast and great service! Love the atmosphere.
Ordered a coffee and a cheeseburger platter. Smallest coffee cup ever. And they didn?t check back on me so no coffee refill. No water. Came to 18.40. The burger was good. Lots of fries. However the customer Service wasn?t very good. 3/5 ?
