In terms of food and service El Madrigal is almost certainly the best restaurant in Cuernavaca it has a diverse menu of Continental and Mexican dishes, several... read more In terms of food and service El Madrigal is almost certainly the best restaurant in Cuernavaca it has a diverse menu of Continental and Mexican dishes, several with gourmet touches. The veal liver and onions plate was pronounced excellent as was the Mediterranean style huachinango. A cold avocado soup, a traditional sopa de tortilla, and onion soup were terrific. The fusilli with meatballs with a putanesca sauce was fine but not outstanding. This would be a 5+ star review, except that our Saturday night dinner very conversation challenged by live music in the adjacent “lounge.” I am well aware that many Mexicans like the music that way, but it does not IMHO belong in a fine dining setting. You may want to go early enough to avoid the loud music and thus have a 5 star experience.
