A... read more We were pleasantly surprised to find that Boxpark was open on Boxing Day, but disappointed to discover that only a few food outlets and restaurants were open. After perusing the menus, we decided to dine at Fish Lab. My husband ordered fish and chips, while my daughter and I opted for the sharing Frito Misto. Although there was a bit of a wait for our food, we were pleased to see that it was being freshly cooked. The sharing board offered a good variety of fish and seafood, along with hand-cut chips and salad. We all enjoyed our meals and were impressed by the quality. We will definitely return to Boxpark for another meal at Fish Lab instead of heading straight for the other restaurants.

This cozy... read more Situated in Croydon's Boxpark amongst a plethora of dining options, Fish Lab stands out with its genuine love for seafood infused with Italian flair. This cozy café/diner offers a seating capacity of no more than 10, cultivating an exclusive and intimate dining experience away from the bustling crowds. During my visit, I opted for a classic fish and chips dish, although they also offer more exotic options like swordfish and Spaghetti Vongole. The meal was a delight; freshly hand-cut chips paired perfectly with cod in a light, crispy batter. The cod was cooked to perfection and served with a side of what seemed to be homemade mayonnaise. Surprisingly, even the most exotic specials were priced within a £10 budget, and my meal, along with a soda, fell under this range. The manager, Stefano, was incredibly welcoming, treating all customers as cherished guests in his own home. The warm hospitality and focus on fresh ingredients in their menu guarantee my return to Fish Lab.

There is ample seating at Boxpark, all under cover to protect you from the rain. I noticed they also offer fish pasta, so I might give that a try next time.

We stumbled upon Fish Lab by looking for places to dine at Boxpark Croydon. We sampled some of the lobster bites and settled on two fish options that were both very well prepared. I don't understand the low ratings for the other reviews. From our experience as well as how much everyone else around us seemed to be having, this place should be at the top of your list if you're in the area.
