What User dislikes about The Downsman:
I visited this restaurant in April 2018 and found the food to be decent, so I decided to give it another try with my friends on Saturday. The biryani was excellently prepared, but the lamb bhuna was the same as my previous visit in 2018 - not great. The chicken madras was absolutely terrible. I visited this restaurant in April 2018 and found the food to be okay. I decided to give it another try with my friends on Saturday. The biryani was excellent, well done. However, the lamb bhuna was poor, similar to the lamb stew in curry sauce from 2018. The chicken madras was absolutely awful. Moving on, the kababs were excellent and tasty, the naan was brilliant, and the chicken tikka was very good. Unfortunately, the curry dishes were disappointing, as they seemed to be stewed in curry sauce. The BBQ dishes were good. Overall, the prices were a bit expensive for the quality of food. My experience in 2018 was not great, and unfortunately, the visit in 2022 was no better. I apologize for the honest feedback.

I was disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. The quality has declined, the prices are too high, portions are small, items were missing from my order, and they no longer provide side dishes. I will not be ordering from here again, unfortunately.

We dined at The Downsman this week and I must say the staff were excellent. They checked our temperatures upon entry, took our contact details, and provided detailed information on the venue layout, one-way system, and restroom procedures. We felt safe and welcomed. The restaurant was not too busy, so we were able to find our own table. There was a slight delay in placing our orders, but the food arrived hot and delicious. We were surprised to receive our meals in takeout bags with wooden cutlery and styrofoam plates. It would have been helpful to know this in advance. Despite this, we enjoyed our meal and disposed of the waste in the provided bag. Overall, we were satisfied with the food and service and would return, but a heads up on the cutlery situation would have been appreciated.
