You wonder if the hype is worth it. Yes, yes it is. They also have live music sometimes but make it out there and treat yourself to a yummy cocktail. Date night vibes for sure but if you’re traveling solo like I was, sit at the bar and make friends. View all feedback.
What amy g doesn't like about Marilou:
just left from here after driving about an hour just to be told to come back an hour later I do understand some places require reservations tb made but this is not advised anywhere on their website, we walked in to an empty table, there was not a sign indicating to wait tb seated or reservation needed, the hostess told us to come back and hour later, as i waited at the door I asked the hostess if i could make a sugge... Stay at the Maison de la Lux. Then, enter Bar MariLou through the secret entrance. Reservations recommended. Or, just stay in the private room behind the bookshelf for a quieter experience.
Low key, cutesy, chill, elegant. These are the words I use to describe this spot. I love how it's decorated small and intimate. I had a fernet strawberry cocktail that was absolutely delicious. You have to make reservations and probably not the most welcoming place, but everything is forgotten with the serious cocktails they mix in. I didn't make it to Jewel of the South nor Cure, so I can't say they have the best cocktails in New Orleans but for sure this one is in the top 3.
Lovely pre-game for NYE, wonderful interior with very whimsical dessert and food. Stong bar, top bar: reservations are required yet the vibe is chill/elegant. Hidden from the street. RED. Bookcases are masterful, life goals.
One of my favorite hidden gems in Nola's nightlife scene! The whole place has a comfortable and sophisticated French feel, and the decor is perfectly curated. The wait staff were all very attentive and kind, too. I'd highly recommend stopping in at Bar Marilou for some light bites and fun drinks!
