Amazing food and wait staff. Best shrimp and grits I've ever tasted. My friends and I stayed in NOLA for 4 days and at the end of the weekend all agreed La Petite was the best meal by far. Would definitely come back! View all feedback.
What big dog doesn't like about La Petite Grocery:
Crab Beignets were good. Gumbo was salty and had hardly anything in the bowl. Fried tomato was good. Shrimp entre was good. Mixed seafood entre was meh. Hardly anything in the bowl. $40 for a chicken sandwich? Pork tenderloin was the best of the entries. Would I go back? Eh probably not. View all feedback.
We went for lunch service, but dinner service may be better! Food wasn’t *entirely* what we expected, and the service was fine enough. The crab beignets and turtle bolognese were highlights, for sure. Still glad we kept this on our list and tried it while in NOLA!
We had reservations for five o’clock and showed up at 6 thinking that we were on time, but they were able to accommodate us. This was such a great gastronomical experience. We ordered the cucumber melon soup which was a great starter. The synchronization of the melon, cucumber and chili oil with the mint basil was just perfect. The salad was just such a fresh combination of flavors. The steak tartare had beets which made it very interesting. the special fish had Crabtree on top and lentils on the bottom. The fish was cooked perfectly and the crab was delicious. The lentils to my liking were a little dried, but once it was combined with the juice of the cherry tomatoes was delicious. The paneed rabbi was great. The breaded component was very delicate and the capers along with the lemon was just perfect. I highly recommended.
They put the *tender* in tenderloin ! Additionally, the drinks were creative and delicious, and the butterscotch pudding tasted like crème brulée, without the caramelized top. *You have to put a card on file to reserve for large groups, with a $25/person no-show or cancellation less than 1 day in advance.
You must get the crab beignets. The service was great, very personable staff and happy to be there. Food was paced well and plated delicately for balanced bites. We went for a late lunch on a Saturday and it was busy but not crowded.
They have some excellent fine dining options and one of the very best hamburgers in NOLA!!! They always have great specials and have always given great service. I have always had a great and tasty experience here and would never hesitate to bring people to enjoy this little gem. They also have some good drinks and unlike many better known places there has always been space at the bar with very attentive and fun bartenders to take care of you every time I've been. They seem to always have some creative and interesting dishes going on along with their consistently good regular menu. My video review of La Petite Grocery is here: [hidden link]
