We frequent DiMartino’s because it is in our neighborhood and has good quality food. However, we would probably go more often if we felt like it was more reasonably priced. Their prices are on the high end for sandwiches and poboys. Our favorite things to order are the combo meal (which includes a cup of gumbo, potato salad, and half of a poboy), the eggplant appetizer, and the grilled shrimp poboy, when we are tryin... What davidrO1424YG doesn't like about Dimartino's:
I checked out the menu online and decided to order a bowl of gumbo, a shrimp po'boy, and spaghetti with meatballs. However, when I went to pick up my order and pay, I noticed that each item was $5.00 more than what was listed. When I mentioned this, the guy acknowledged it and said he knew it had been a while since they updated their menu. Seriously? View all feedback.
Dimartino's is a great dining spot on the northshore. The Veal Parmesan and Grilled Shrimp appetizer were absolutely delicious, as was the hot buttered french bread that came with everything. Can't say enough about the excellent service.
Eggplant, muffaletta and fried shrimp were big hits. Staff were all masked and patrons were spread out. Restaurant was spotless. Well worth the detour from I-10.
I have been a customer most of my life...at the Terrytown, Algiers, and Covington locations and this has always been in my top 10 places to eat. It is hard to find a better roast beef poboy. Today might have been an off day or maybe COVID19 is affecting things, but our food was not good. The prices are a bit on the high side to begin with so we expect great food. My husband had fish and shrimp and his shrimp were not fresh he did not eat too many. He didn't complain because usually a restaurant knows what they are cooking, how old their seafood is, etc. so he didn't bother. My roast beef poboy was cold not even lukewarm but still tasted very good except for the bread having a strange taste (maybe it was frozen at one time and tasted like freezer). Again, I stress, I have never had this happen before. My red beans were excellent and hot! The gumbo was good except the shrimp seemed like they were put in after it was already cooked and seemed a little undercooked. That being said, I ate every bite and will give them another chance. Like someone else said, we all have an off day!!
The fried mushrooms are so good that our 12 year old (whom doesn't eat veggies) devoured them. Liz was super sweet and very knowledgeable of the menu. One of the best waitresses we have had! Hats off to their chef everything was so flavorful and delicious! A new destination for us when we come through Louisiana!
We had a very good meal here a few weeks ago celebrating the birth of our granddaughter. We had eaten at DiMartino’s in Algiers a long time ago and it was very casual and mostly take-out food. Imagine our surprise to see an elegantly appointed dining room with uniformed wait staff and a full size bar. We were warmly welcomed to our table, given food and a drink menus and immediately served water. The wine list is small but they offer nice wines at a reasonable price. The food menu is complete with plenty of appetizer, salad and po-boy choices. The entree selections are varied and they offer multiple fish, shrimp, chicken and beef plates. I had the grilled reddish and she had the grilled trout. Both were outstanding!! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the very inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. We highly recommend this restaurant.
