Contribute FeedbackSonali Balti offers a wide-ranging menu of Indian dishes, eliciting mixed reviews from patrons. While some enjoy the flavorful curries and generous portions, others report inconsistencies in quality, including bland sauces and poorly executed dishes. Concerns also arise about service delays and incorrect orders. The restaurant shines with certain standout plates, such as the North Indian garlic chilli chicken and keema naan, loved for their authenticity and taste. However, the reliability of the experience varies, prompting some customers to seek alternatives. Ultimately, Sonali Balti remains a familiar option in the local dining scene, yet with room for improvement.
I picked up a large takeaway from Sonali on a Saturday night and the food quality was fantastic as always, with no complaints. However, I ordered 2 biryanis and only received one portion of vegetable curry. The curry had a lot of potato and very little sauce, which had to be shared between two people, resulting in a dry dish. Sonali has great food, but they should double check orders before giving them to customers. I will be sure to check my orders myself from now on.
I recently dined at Sonali on Sutton Avenue and ordered takeout on 30/11/18. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. The sauces in three different dishes all looked the same, as if they had been blended together. The bhuna was supposed to be a drier dish, but it was more like slop. The Korahi and Balti Chicken Tikka Massala also had the same sauce, which resembled tomato soup from a tin. The poppadoms were not crispy, and the Bombay potato was overcooked and mushy. I will not even mention the sheek kebab starter. The only saving grace was the rice and chips. I would recommend finding another Indian takeaway restaurant, as Sonali seems to have modernized their shop and the quality of food has suffered. To top it off, one of us got sick within 5 minutes of eating the food. We will not be returning.
My family recommended this restaurant to me and I was not disappointed at all. The portions were very generous and the food had an authentic taste. The delivery was quite slow, especially on a busy Friday night, and arrived 50 minutes late. Despite the delay, the food was definitely worth the wait. However, it would be helpful if they could communicate any issues with the delivery beforehand.
Been using for a while now, some of the dishes are excellent such as jalfrezi and biriani which we order regularly. Some are a bit of a let down, the chicken in a korma dish we ordered was dry tough and over cooked, the masala sauce tastes and smells like korma sauce with red food colouring in it! The butter chicken also looks suspiciously like a korma with a more brown colour. We will use again occasionally but only for the dishes we know are good.
Foods average, but don't ring and tell them your orders wrong. The man who took my order had to ask my postcode 4 times, but of curse he to my order down correctly and I was completely in the wrong!! Ruined our birthday celebration and will not be using them again!!
