Was Anonym at Mint a mag?
another good Indian restaurant in coventry, although wishing that they would leave it with the Mango Chutney Plates decorations! service was always good as eating and a bonus is, they can choose to get their own drinks under a cork fee of course! View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Mint:
After we have said that the order would take an hour to deliver, we waited over two and a half hours to check the delivery several times to get not where. only after they had spoken to the manager after so long, they gave us many excuses, including it will be two minutes, the driver has problems finding us and finally the driver broke off even though they managed to get back to the restorer. after that we offered to... This used to be one of the best curry houses in Coventry, and I can tell you the main thing that has now gone wrong in two words ‘Portion’ and ‘size’, You can see from my photo that there is less than one breast of chicken in my chicken tikka Masala, (only 7 chunks to be precise) which is a bit stingy by any stretch of the imagination. Even my Keema naan had only a superficial smearing of keema meat in it, with the majority of the naan being pretty much plain (and slightly doughy and undercooked) I used to rate this curry restaurant higher than any other in Coventry, it was amazing. A tasty curry with generous portions...so who the hell has taken over to screw this up so monumentally? Whoever it was, man alive...have they laid an egg????? This restaurants decline had been apparent as in the last year or so I have started to favour the curry house next door as The Mints takeaway curries have not been as nice or as generous as they once were. Not only does this other restaurant provide a tastier tikka masala but it contains considerably more chicken. Indeed I went to this other restaurant first and because they were full and couldn’t accommodate me, I turned to The Mint (my previous first choice but now relegated to my consolation choice) and the restaurant was practically empty. The curry I ordered was, to be fair, just as tasty as it always was, (and huge improvement in what i’ve received lately via their delivery service) but please, please, PLEASE increase your meat portion, as the decision to reduce your portions has all but destroyed your business. I’ll tell you now (and I speak as a college trained and experienced restauranteur) should you revert to a decent portion size of meat, then it will be the curry house next door that would struggle to attract customers, as your own restaurant would be packed to the rafters, EVERY, SINGLE. NIGHT. Please take this on board and save your business. This one simple change will generate so much new business and entice back so much returning business it will change your fortunes almost overnight. My other gripe I have was with the staff, who were not very attentive. I only saw two members of staff...a woman who I presume was the manager who sat by the bar and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ALL THE TIME I WAS THERE apart from stare at and type things into her phone, and a male member of staff who pretty much did the same thing except when food needed to be brought out. Other than that he seemed pretty inactive too. Not once during my meal did anyone approach me to see if everything was okay. I asked for the bill and after he gave it to me, he didn’t seem overly keen on coming to take payment in the pursuing 15 minutes. I had to attract his attention at the bar area where he had been sitting doing nothing all of that time. So let’s go guys.. let’s make positive changes moving forward..let’s see more attentive staff, bigger portion sizes and ensure as much attention to quality and taste when it comes to your takeaway service as your restaurant service. The Mint can once again be a genuine and worthy tour de force in Curry based cuisine in Coventry. Come on! All it takes is the positive changes I’ve suggested here. You can do it!
Was hoping for a nice meal but when it came out it was freezing cold! Before it turned up the manger was in a meeting upstairs with the owners the language was absolutely awful. We spoke to the chap behind the bar he went to speak to them but they just continued. While we were sat waiting for our meal to be re-heated somebody came back in with there takeaway demanded there money back as it wasn’t what they had ordered. When we last went you wasn’t allowed to take your own drink so we ordered 2 pints of cobra followed by 2 more this time I clocked the chap pouring from a can so I questioned him.His answer was the beer hadn’t turned up. Then the bill came £16 for 4 cans so I asked to speak to the manger. She came over I told her how I felt about the language the beer price. She basically told me to shut up as we’d had our say showed us the door. WILL NEVER GO BACK ,
Came here for the first time on 28th December. Don’t know where to begin.... The food was absolutely poor as well as the customer service we received, we ordered 4 pints of cobra which was absolutely flat and tasted disgusting! The manageress was rudely mannered the staff as a whole need basic retraining again. Our bill was higher then what it should of been also. Will not be coming back to this place again avoid at all costs.
I have been to The Mint multiple times and have always been satisfied with their food and service. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I ordered from the starter menu but was charged for mains when the bill came. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, they were rude and unapologetic about their mistake. The food itself was bland and left uneaten. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience.
I recently visited this Indian restaurant for the first time based on a recommendation, and I can definitely say it won't be my last visit! The food was delicious with generous portions and beautiful presentation. The service was excellent, and the server was faultless. I am looking forward to returning soon.

Excellent food. We ordered from here a few times... Great prices too! And the lady at the reception is always very professional and friendly. Relaxed atmosphere we have ever ordered to take away here is worth collecting when you get money. Definitely recommend.
I can see some bad reviews here, but I can't comment on it. Maybe because I was invited by my beautiful Indian friend... I don't know. But the food was very nice! I asked for something, just mild and got the best possible. Service was also fast and the staff friendly.
Great authentic tasting Indian cuisine, one of the best I tried in Coventry. Didn't have to wait long for dinner, although it was a pretty busy night. Really good service from the guys there (especially Jay), attentive and even provided free poppadome and tea! Would definitely visit again.
One of the worst restaurants I treated. I can cook Indian food better than you and I'm not even Indian. I had ordered butter chicken, fried rice, Naan bread and Poppadom for me. the fried rice had no vegetables as it should, it was only pure rice and the butter chicken had condensed milk at the top, literally the tip was white and the butter chicken was sweeter than condensed milk, I am uncertain where she got the idea that this was the way to cook if google exists, I have a fiance from South india, which said that this was disgusting when it was squealed. You then told me on my face Oh, so we cook in this restaurant, you can throw away the food, even they thought my order was completely wrong. Pictures of butter chicken and 'fried rice '' so you can compare it to google, which I also put there. Kill her.
Ordered a take away in person on new years Eve,to be told to come back and collect in 1 hour . went back an hour later and had another 30 min wait . The restaurant was not busy nor did they have any take aways.I really don't know what has happened to this place as it used to be lovely and the waiters were really welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately they have all gone and the place has gone downhill fast. Some woman on the desk hasn't got a clue ,she's very rude and doesn't even know what's on the menu. The curry I received was also watered down and not the madras strength I ordered. For those people dining in it's no longer a bring your own .The mint used to be a thriving business, always busy , bringing your own alcohol was great for people on a tight budget and enabled people to go out for food and not spend on overpriced drinks. Unfortunately greed has taken over and you are no longer able to do this . There is so much competition in that row ,you once had the upper hand with great curries and bring your own ,but not any more . You need to get your old chef back and your old waiters ....Get back to the standard that you were once known for ....
